I think it all just depends sometimes a team may see you and instead of running at you they sneak closer so its quieter or take a route you wont hear like my squad was fighting this pathfinder on the right side so i just went around to the left side of the ice area i forget the name and he turned around to heal and was like oh sh*t and jumped scared as hell XD other times ive been above players and just jumped down right behind them in gun fights or to the sides of them and there so focused on whats in front of them they are clueless about there surroundings lmao I think thats the problem with ‘’footstep audios’’ I didnt run in i just simply jumped down so no footsteps to be heard from situations like that also using healing items, reviving, healing drone, etc all make noises that cover up footsteps
Literally everytime teammate try to revive me I hear players above me on the hill and they are clueless as ever until its too late
now what I have had problem with lately is hearing my squad i turned the volume down to 0 one day and now i just cant hear them anymore i thought 30% would be enough but wasnt so did 40% should voices be on 60%? I thought they were on 30 but i cant hear them but it all depends i hear one teammate perfectly and others are so quiet you cant hear them decides a mumble maybe its there crappy mics or there not talking loud enough
