The best thing you can do is to hit the "mute all" button while still in the lobby. On xbox it's the Y button, and there's a notice in the lower right corner of the screen to remind you. It stays there all the way through legend selection. After that you would have to wait for the match to start and then manually mute each teammate, which is hidden in a menu somewhere but not too hard to find. Either way, it seems easier to me than having to go into the console settings and set up an empty chat. I hate the xbox ui. It used to be simple and intuitive, about a thousand years ago. Now I have to do a google search every time I want to change some basic feature.
