@iCouldaSworn What @DaleFox2012 said is only half correct.
There are returning players, with those who reached a high rank in the first season of rank. Those who did, were able to keep the dive trail, with the second season of ranked and beyond, players had to re-earn the dive trails, until S17, where it was replaced with banner frames.
The other half is what @AzureEST had said. The matchmaking is so broken, it can't seem to tell the difference between a pro, a cheater, someone who's smurfing, a casual player, a new player, and accounts that are just bots; treating them all as being "the same skill level".
This results in matches where its a full pre-stack pred squad VS a casual and 2 bots, where the game calls it "skill based matchmaking". Several of my ranked matches started looking like this:
[My Team]
- Me: Level 470 (Green Octane Level Badge) - Silver/Gold
- Random 1: Between level 75 and 300, ranked Bronze/Rookie/Silver, highest rank being silver
- Random 2: Same as Random 1, but also has no badges or stat trackers, highest rank is rookie or bronze
[The Champion Team]
- Champ 1: Below level 100, plat ranked with a diamond, masters, or pred badge or two, highest rank being top 300 pred
- Champ 2: Level 500+ (Blue Lifeline Level Badge), plat, with diamond, masters, and/or pred badges across the banner card, highest rank pred top 500 or so
- Champ 3: Usually around level 300, plat ranked, diamond badges, highest rank diamond or masters
Ignoring levels and stats and just looking at the ranks, how is any of the following fair, (its not based on the skill level my randoms are at VS what the enemy team is at):
- Rookie/Rookie/Silver VS Plat/Plat/Gold
- Rookie/Bronze/Silver VS Plat/Plat/Plat
- Bronze/Bronze/Gold VS Plat/Plat/Diamond
- Silver/Silver/Gold VS Plat/Diamond/Masters
Every match shouldn't be you carrying the team to victory; especially when there's too many cheaters in the match. It should be fair and attempt to be more balanced.
