I did my "first" match with Octane today...

I usually play with a friend in Duos, and as I am happy to let him call the shots in those games then Octane doesn't really offer much to us as a team.  When I play on my own I often choose Octane and I've had some of my best ever games with him because I care a little less about my team mates and a little more about myself in those situations ( because 70 percent of them will instantly quit when downed ) and its really quite liberating how easy it is to have a bit of a fight, retreat and heal, go back . . . escape again, maybe completely disengage from that fight and move on etc.

I maintain my opinion that Octane is a broken legend that screws the balance and should never have been created in the first place.  Sounds cool, people love him  . . but it really isn't balanced in this game.

My skill level is about average and usually sufficient for combat, but not enough to really solo 100 squads in a single match. I'd say with a K/DR of 0.85, I'm below average. Which makes this all the more weird, honestly. I've been wanting a solo-win with Rampart for a very long time and never achieved it because I died at some point trying to run away. And now I got it first-try on Octane. And once I get to play again, I'll try again tomorrow. Trying to see what results I get. But well, here is the thing...

Rampart is that one Legend that everyone feared when she was teased. People said that her Mini-gun would surely be very overpowered, that her walls would become so excessively powerful. People dreaded the thought of a living base builder. People wanted her nerfed before she was even released. What was the reality? It took 2 days for people to figure out you can hard-counter the whole Rampart kit with a single grenade. And even after the change that grenades deal regular damage, people still had no issues * on Ramparts in the game because they could fly, jump, grapple, void-jump or lift themselves over pretty much any resistance ever created by Rampart. So it doesn't even matter if Rampart has a carefully placed and crafted defense, a single Octane - or any Legend for that matter - can completely ruin this Legend. Speaking of keeping the fun for characters.

The same thing goes for Caustic or for Wattson. You know, while I was one of the people who wanted Caustic to be nerfed to the ground, I'm actually starting to see where the people that defended him were coming from. At least to some extend I want to see him buffed. I also want to see Wattson buffed. Or all the other legends to be brought on par with them. And for real: I don't care how many people who have spent thousands of hours in this game have 20 kill badges and 10k damage dealt on Rampart. If everyone was that way, we wouldn't need complains about SBMM.
