Its good for people who want to play the game like the pros, because it rewards good positioning over everything else. However for solos and casuals, it does not reward aggression or early game outplays. On top of that, they chose storm point as a map for this, which is the largest map with too few good POIs. It has potential to be good, but rewarding ONLY late game play is not the move Respawn.
I finished gold 3 last season. This season I got put back into bronze 4 but to my surprise, the matchmaking was completely unbalanced. I saw a consistent ammount of people with diamond badges in my lobbies. The reason for that is that diamonds were put by default in gold this season, and since gold and bronzes can queue together, you understand how bad that becomes.
I think there is a lack of communication between the devs and the actual playerbase. Most players don't want to play Apex like the pros, they simply want an action packed experience where losing in not as punishing as it is in other games with ranked modes.

If it was 5KP at 14+ and 8KP at 11-13 it would be a completely different story.
Then high aggression at the start would still be risky, but viable in lower ranks.
And at higher ranks 5KP is too little to bet on. Getting 3 squad wipes then only rewards 45RP, enough up to gold 2. Allowing aggressive plays to be risky but potentially rewarding.

Getting to Diamond in Season 12 was the easiest it had been ever. It was easy in Season 11. But even more so in Season 12. In fact it was so easy even as a Solo player that I stopped playing ranked as soon as i hit Diamond with over 30 days left.
I was Diamond 2 in Season 5, and that was hard work for me, but was also fun.
In Season 11 I got to Diamond 1 without much effort, had not enought time for master. But when my 43 Years old self almost got master its definitely to easy...
Good decision to make ranked about winning games again!
P.S.: I had to look it up. It used to be that you are under the best 3% in the game when you reached diamond. Now you have almost 5% Master player...

Rank will only be fun in a 3-man premade squad but a total nightmare as solo. Also, it also meant an indirect nerf to all "aggressive fighting legends" like Octane, Pathfinder, Wraith, Mirage. I predict that Diamond+ lobbies will be dominated by squads of one Valkyries for the rotation power + two camping/hold position legends like Caustic, Gibbe, Watson, Newcastle etc. I also predict that Diamond+ lobbies literally will be 20 squads avoiding fights at all cost until Round3 where 80% of the lobby dies at the same time when the circle starts to move and forces everyone to fight.

This changes makes me just leave my squad when I know were not gonna win (mostly when 3rd partied).
Yeah thats pretty much it. :D
I mean I could get them placement, but they mostly decide to leave anyway... :D

Ranked is harder now to climb at the low levels. The idea is once you start climbing, you'll start getting more competent teammates. It doesn't feel great at the lower ranks because it takes more effort. Which I think is actually a good move. Just climbing to Gold will feel more rewarding. I could care less about Gold or even Plat last season. I felt like I could rat if I wanted to and get to Plat.
I really don't care for Storm point though. I think a lot of people not liking the season so far is because of the map, and then you add in all the changes to ranked on top of that. It's a lot of change all at once.
I was pretty annoyed at first. I mean, when is the last time any of you lost points in Bronze or Silver! It's been a while for myself. I'm starting to appreciate the changes though.
I think we need to see how the split plays out before coming to any conclusions that it was a bad decision. I hate when people have a plan, but no one gives it a fair shot to even work. Then say, well it was a bad plan, even though no one actually committed to it. If everyone universally hates it, Respawn isn't afraid to change it back. That's one of the things I really like about them. Not afraid to make big changes once in a while, but also willing to admit it wasn't working.

@RaginSamThis will only end up in even more ppl using unfair advantage to make up for the changes, 1 day and i already experienced 3 times getting one clipped in under a second with purple shield. Guess Apex will be the next Titanfall
