The game was ofc more unbalanced back then (like perfect hipfire Wingmans with increased mag size and fire rate, Lifeline popping heals faster and Wraith insta-Q etc etc). But if we just talking performance, the game ran smoother from your individual POV and less BS like getting shot around corners and prediction error lags and rubber banding never happened..
But with that being said; we dont know how much "fairer" the game was back then. I would assume that all the performance issues that happens now is because they try to make it fairer for everyone, i.e merging 60 different "realities", i.e different 60 players with 60 different pings into one reality. For all we know; back then alot of BS happened just that the game didnt showed it to you =)
Seems a bit unlikely that Respawn purposely made the game run worse for no reason other that incompetence tbh. Must be due to technical reasons that we dont know about or understand.
