xjapox From my experiences when I had to contact EA Support in the past, the "resume case" button does seem to just create another case. For me, I was able to "resume" my case by "creating a new one", so you should be able to do that as well.
If you had gotten an email from EA Support, you should be able to reply back to that email instead, (unless it says, "do not reply", somewhere in the email, or the email was from EA's no-reply email).
You could also try to get in contact with EA Support via their live chat instead.
