I still think Wraiths 'Phase Shift' ability needs a risk to it.

I made a post months ago similar to this and the main argument against me was that while using phase shift Wraith cant see players or open doors so it must be balanced.

I don't even play Wraith and I know where the enemies, who we're just firing at me, are when I use phase shift. If you play Wraith you know where players are using the ability, even if you don't realise it - its having basic game sense.

Not being able to open doors is not a feature that is going to get you killed because half the time you use the ability you will be outdoors and even inside if you make it to a door then that door now just acts as your cover to heal.

Anyway, to put it simply Phase Shift is a get out of jail free card on a legend who has a smaller hitbox and despite this the ability has no repercussions for its use nor any notable downsides.

I think Wraith should take 15-20 Health Damage on use, similar to Octane's stim, with the balance being that she can move 10% faster while using Phase. In addition, unlike Octane Wraith should be able to knock herself if she isn't cautious of her health and the damage taken from using Phase only applies after Wraith exits Phase.

This will turn Phase into a tool used more for a safer way Wraith can re-position herself before or after a fight rather than a tool that allows her to easily escape a fight when she is close to death due to her making a mistake.

Thanks for reading, I'm not a fan of nerfs, I would rather buff the weaker legends however I think this change would be a good example of a balance rather than a nerf.

  • @heme725 It will require another learning curve for Wraith and will raise her skill ceiling slightly. With my change her abilities still will rank around the same. Pathfinder recently got a balance to his grapple and I'd say he's still top tier.

I think it would play out fine if released. Yes, for a week there would be complaints on the forums but afterwards players would adapt. You believe it would be a bad change, I say it would be good. It would have to actually be tested in game to see the results. But I am confident in my ideas.

Why pick Wraith? She's unique in the fact that she is the only legend who can outright avoid taking damage sometimes. Its an extremely powerful tool in any game to do that. I just think it needs a slight drawback. It's pros currently outweigh the *.

Thank you for your reply, it was nice to read 🙂

@WoahItsTea Show me a gameplay of you dominating a match with wraith since shes “ broken” and has a get out of Jail card abilities and not unranked match , show me a gameplay of you dominating in Diamond rank in a 1v1 , i love how people complain about a character but probably dont even play the character or know how to use her but love to use the phrase “ op”

I used to say how broken and how easy it is for pathfinder to zipline until i played him and my reaction time with the grapple was slow and i couldn’t use him then i started questioning if people who played him actually took time to adapt to his plsy style instead of just picking him and automatically became “good”

So basically your argument is when someone knows how to manoeuvre around with wraith its a problem to you and when they don’t everything is balanced??? LOOL
