@kellanammann Nope and @Balladalidila is right, there would be way to much damage farming going on.
Any player worth their weight can climb to plat and any decent player can get to diamond solo. This can be done without communicating and just playing off your team, even if they're completely useless. That's on you. Climbing diamond to masters/pred will take good communication, knowing when to push and sharing that information with your team.
Ranked does need a whole rework in how they distribute RP but RP for damage most definitely this isn't it. Also i wouldn't expect much change in the future as they already stated they're reasonably happy with the current system.

Ehh ranked system with how the points are done is fine. Those who cant finish their kills for rp are the ones who sit back in narnia and wanna snipe. Those of us who push to kill earn our rp because we followed through to get the kill and assists. Giving rp for damage and knocks would be a joke. A complete joke. Follow through with your kills/damage. 8 seasons now we have done ranked with kills and assists. No need to change it because some are scared to actually engage fights in ranked. Ranked is suppose to be hard not handing you the cake to easily advance.
- 5 years ago@E9ine_AC Kell and I aren't scared to engage but our teammates are or they don't know how to properly engage and we can't finish kills the way we should. Your right ranked shouldn't be easy but when you consistently out play the other members of your team and you see them getting more RP than you thats some bs.

@E9ine_ACNah bro if you're consistently knocking 2 of the 3 enemies and your team is so incompetent that they can't even knock one guy and he ends up killing you, that is unbearably frustrating. If you disagree because you think rewarding damage and knockdowns would make the ranks less accurate, it wouldn't, because with everyone benefiting from it, it would balance it out. To be honest I think it's absurd that damage isn't rewarded in any way. With higher buy-in costs for higher ranks, those kills that your teammates are stealing can cause you to lose RP very easily. Ranks would actually be much more accurate because heavy hitters who pull more than their own weight would actually be getting the RP that they deserve, not getting shafted because someone is hammerpoint stealing their kills or unable to handle killing their own guy. Like I said, if they limit the damage RP bonus for a single enemy, then range camping would not be a viable way to cheese RP, and if they increase the rank ceiling accordingly, then it would be much better than it is now.
Thirsting takes a solid few seconds unless you're right next to them with a shotgun or SMG, also greatly depending on their knockdown shield level if you're more than 10m away from them, then you have to reload and shield swap, potentially still having less health, and a lower level shield if the guy you killed had a lower level shield, and like I said you can't shield swap at any range and can't pop a battery with how quickly and safely all of those legends that I listed can push you, so trying to finishing kills is often more likely to get you killed by the guy your incompetent teammates failed to knock. Meanwhile they're getting way more RP than you are for doing 500 damage with a hammerpointed mozambique, while you have 3k damage and are cracking everyone's shields. It's stupid.
There's no good reason that anyone here has given me not to change it, so long as they implement the range restrictions and max damage per enemy restrictions (probably around twice their shield and health as it's rare you get to pop 2 Phoenix kits, or 2 shield batteries and 2 medkits before a fight ends). Bottom line is that if you are leaving teammates in the dust with your damage and they're still getting much more RP than you, just for stealing your kills, (it wouldn't feel like stealing if damage was rewarded) something is definitely wrong with the RP distribution.
- 5 years ago@apostolateofDOOM Any player can make it to plat just by getting placement. I could probably do it without firing a shot. Yes I get to diamond solo, but I want the chance to compete for a master or pred spot not waste so much time trying to get through plat because I have to carry my team almost every game. Honestly it feels easier getting through diamond 4 than plat 4 and it shouldn't be that way. I would just like to have a something else to aim for to get RP.
- 5 years ago@Ironflower196 I agree that anyone can climb to plat easily without even picking up a gun which shouldn't be the case and why it's such a cluster truck from then on because so so many don't belong anywhere near there but without an entire overhaul of the RP system, i doubt it's going to change much.
As i said earlier, they put a post up saying they're happy with the current state of ranked which doesn't fill me with much hope for the future. Just look at the minor changes for this season now saturating more would be plats into diamond + matches just to get farmed by pred squads.
Ranked in Apex is unfortunately a joke for a competitive shooter both in the format and the state of connections/servers ect...
I think it desperately needs to change, just damage for RP not being the solution.- 5 years ago@apostolateofDOOM You are right it probably won't change much because yes they seem to be happy about the way things are and it keeps things simple for them. But I would like a more diverse scoring system, not just damage, it seems too basic for the amount of work I put into ranked games. I finally reached plat 3 the other day and feel super drained and haven't played ranked since because I'm kinda recharging in pubs.
How would you change things?

Then make it a limit to where you can only get a set amount of RP from hitting/downing the same person. Diminished returns, easy fix. Think outside of the box don't just neg an idea because you can't think of ways to improve on it. What are your ideas?

Doesn't matter if it's diminishing returns as that wouldn't address the problem.
You just get the initial main RP from one person then go onto the next or move on to another team. As i've already said, ranged engagements are less risky than CQC so ANYTHING that's RP just for damage that isn't connected to kills will be farmed by snipers.
I have a whole list of things they could do to improve ranked but none of them are RP for damage. Some of them just off the top of my head...
1. Remove rank split so it's not as much of a rushed grind. That way everyone has a chance regardless of personal circumstances and time available to play.
2. Put predator back in a higher RP cost to other tiers and not determined by time played being top 750 overall RP for each platform per split. You could do this by removing masters (probably better as there aren't enough players at that level) or make it a higher RP cost than masters which is fine if they implement 5 too. Those that have families and work full time but are skilled can still obtain it unlike now where it favours streamers and unemployed just for engagement.
3. End of season everyone only drops one tier. Gives each person more chance to improve and climb the following season and removes preds being put back to bronze lobbies if they don't play a season.
4. Give a server selector for ranked so we don't have random connections.
5. Increase the kill cap to 10 or just remove it so people can climb to their respective ranks faster.
- 5 years ago@apostolateofDOOM I am good with these ideas, but kind of like you said it's hard to see them getting rid of the split since it keeps players engaged. So I still feel damage should be implemented in some way, like I said before though it doesn't have to be big. I also just kind of want make a comment about exploitation. There is tons of exploitation in apex so I don't think that is a good reason to shut down the tier demotion. But I get where you're coming from because diamond and up in my opinion should never go below plat. Also how many players actually make it to masters? I know the percentage but they combine masters and preds.
- 5 years ago@afishthatvapes He doesn't get it man. He's saying that because Evo shields can level up from the same person, that damage will be rewarded from the same person. It just makes no sense.

Introduction of evo proved that it would encourage sniping for damage and it doesn't matter if they can heal and you can charge more over time because if that wasn't the case then people would still opt for ranged engagements to charge their evo even if there was a cap on damage done per person.Same as your RP suggestion and i'm still waiting for you to address these issues.
