Then make it a limit to where you can only get a set amount of RP from hitting/downing the same person. Diminished returns, easy fix. Think outside of the box don't just neg an idea because you can't think of ways to improve on it. What are your ideas?

Doesn't matter if it's diminishing returns as that wouldn't address the problem.
You just get the initial main RP from one person then go onto the next or move on to another team. As i've already said, ranged engagements are less risky than CQC so ANYTHING that's RP just for damage that isn't connected to kills will be farmed by snipers.
I have a whole list of things they could do to improve ranked but none of them are RP for damage. Some of them just off the top of my head...
1. Remove rank split so it's not as much of a rushed grind. That way everyone has a chance regardless of personal circumstances and time available to play.
2. Put predator back in a higher RP cost to other tiers and not determined by time played being top 750 overall RP for each platform per split. You could do this by removing masters (probably better as there aren't enough players at that level) or make it a higher RP cost than masters which is fine if they implement 5 too. Those that have families and work full time but are skilled can still obtain it unlike now where it favours streamers and unemployed just for engagement.
3. End of season everyone only drops one tier. Gives each person more chance to improve and climb the following season and removes preds being put back to bronze lobbies if they don't play a season.
4. Give a server selector for ranked so we don't have random connections.
5. Increase the kill cap to 10 or just remove it so people can climb to their respective ranks faster.
- 5 years ago@apostolateofDOOM I am good with these ideas, but kind of like you said it's hard to see them getting rid of the split since it keeps players engaged. So I still feel damage should be implemented in some way, like I said before though it doesn't have to be big. I also just kind of want make a comment about exploitation. There is tons of exploitation in apex so I don't think that is a good reason to shut down the tier demotion. But I get where you're coming from because diamond and up in my opinion should never go below plat. Also how many players actually make it to masters? I know the percentage but they combine masters and preds.

@Ironflower196 They should revert it as they could find other ways to keep players engaged if Respawn actually decide to put the effort in. Some don't play ranked because of the split as they know they don't have the time to get to the top.
Highest tier should be based on skill and absolutely nothing else.
One suggestion for example was using legend tokens as an entry fee like a casual ranked. The incentive was win x amount of games and being able to earn evo skins like the end of battle pass weapons but for your legends. It would make you want to keep earning legends token in pubs to be able to enter in this exclusive que and give those that already have loads something to spend them on. They could be creative and merge this into normal ranked matches so it doesn't effect que times though.
Edit: You could pay just RP like now or choose RP and legend tokens. It would also give you a reason to keep playing ranked if you were unable to climb further lowering que times for the rest, especially in diamond+.
As for exploitation, i know there's loads and made threads on the issue in the past.

We should be doing everything to minimise it not make it worse, which this would.
In that discussion someone suggested combining kills/damage/placement which is fine if it's not just damage but they tie it to kills and placement somehow, i just don't know how they could do that except the multiplier i said earlier. You can even see at the end of that thread i was in a similar mindset about potentially removing tier demotion protection until another discussion later on somewhere else.
I don't know about last season results but season 6 results showed 0.12% master and 0.2% pred. Announcing Apex Legends Ranked Season 7

@EA_Kent As nothing of mine is forwarded from general discussion does that mean now it's in general feedback i have a better chance of it going through now? 😛
