Also useful if whole team playing the same base class, they can swap for a different class during selection while playing the same legends.

NewCastle Controller
Mirage/Loba Skirmisher/Other.
Mix and Match.
Or more commonly, everyone's playing Skirmisher, so two of them select different classes during selection.
Valkyrie Recon
Pathfinder Skirmisher (Controller Beacon perk upon blue)
Octane/Other Support/Assault
Etc

Yes, I understood what you wanted to do, but you haven't told me WHY?
What does it give you by doing any of this?
I may just not understand all the nuances of the game yet.

It doesn't matter what Legend I play, I play support. I try to keep them alive, or bring them back whenever possible.
Half the time, when I'm not playing a support, we don't have a support class and therefore I cannot escape and craft banners.
It's easier on Crypto because he has that drone to collect banners for him.
Octane and Valkyrie are decent escapists/evasionists.
Let's say the team is Valkyrie, Ballistic, Rampart. No Support. No banner crafting. Lets say I'm Valkyrie. I'd prefer to be able to craft banners over spot care packages. Gives me the opportunity to just escape, and not have to return for my comrades because I can go craft banners instead.
Even when playing a non-support, self-guarantees my banner crafting.
And I wonder what people would play as the most, no matter their legend.
If people could choose class separate from legend, I wonder what would be most commonly used? What would be least used?Well, maybe I am wrong, but it seems like Support's ability to craft banners is unique. So there is no purpose to allowing class changing to anything other than Support, yes? If that is the case, and crafting banners is the only benefit, then let everyone craft banners.
That is what you should be asking for. It would be so much easier to implement and it would be so much easier to understand why the change is made at all.
