As stated, they don't seem to care about the game. One of my matches had a Season 3 pred, and overall masters player as the "champion". Why though? This is a "gold" lobby.
I suppose one could argue that not everyone can maintain pred status, and that maybe they got bad over time, but uh... they've been a Masters player for a while, so I'm assuming in Season 13, they decided to not play rank, (or the game at all) which let them unfairly drop into lower ranked lobbies. Which would mean that after Season 12, they would of been dropped down to diamond going into Season 13 due to the rank reset. Then after Season 13's split, that would of drop them down somewhere in plat, which finally when Season 14 kicked off, they would be in gold. That would explain why they're in my "gold" lobbies, although this is the end of the second split, and we literally have 4 days (since this reply was posted) left of the season, so they should be a higher rank than gold.
I decided to look a bit more into this player's ranking, and give it more brain cells and thought than was required, (which would be zero on both of those, because why waste your time, right?)
Right... I checked their stats on a stat tracker, which found the following:
- Stat Tracker Being Used: https://apexlegendsstatus.com
- Account Level: 559 (Apex's new leveling system), 1900 (shown via https://apex.tracker.gg, which is the stat level, not the "actual" level)
- Current Rank: Plat III (Image above was taken about 3 hours ago around 5:30 PM CST, its now 8:52 PM CST for me, that's why they're no longer in gold)
- Current Arena Rank: Diamond I
- Shown Rank Badges (Since the stat page is limited by Apex's API): Season 3 - pred (the badge shown below), season 8 - masters, season 10 to 12 - masters, season 13 (Arena) - masters
I also was trying to find what rank they were last season, but as mentioned before, the API is a little limited, however using the other tracker (https://apex.tracker.gg), it seems (while not fully accurate), that the player was diamond for season 13. Season 13 is when rank was broken by Respawn, so I'm guessing that this player's "true ranking", (if we can even call it that since SBMM doesn't exist), was diamond as they couldn't reach masters again. This would set them down as a plat player for season 14 assuming they actually were a diamond player in season 13. While the stat tracker only tell part of the story, it does look like this player is just ranking up as high as they can, and then dropping down to terrorize lower lobbies.
I can't fully say for certain what this player is doing, but its what this seems to suggest they're doing:
I think this just further proves that rank and matchmaking is simply too broken in general, if a masters/pred player can effortlessly drop this low in the ranks. I get rank placement, but this isn't how ranked or matchmaking should be like.
