mic audio quality is crap compared to discord, sounding like a walky-talky
when speaking in-game, there is a significant difference in clearity.

A whole year has passed since this thread was made, and it is still just as relevant as it was back then. The voice chat quality is absolutely horrid in this game. I literally cannot understand my teammates 80% of the time. Sometimes I cannot even make out a single word, and the voice to text feature does not help either, spitting out random gibberish.
The voice quality needs to be massively improved, because right now it's not even usable the majority of the time.
(Sorry for bumping an old thread, but figured it was better than making a new one, since the issue is still exactly the same.)
Yup, still a major issue.
If you're worried about server bandwidth, make it peer to peer or use a 3rd party service.
If you're worried about client bandwidth, make the quality configurable.
There's really no excuse for the pitiful bitrate you're currently imposing; it just further differentiates randoms from premades, and inconveniences everyone.
This is true but it just leads out the the very poor quality netcode and servers
