New Evo Shield

The Evo Shield rewards very good players but it's almost useless to casual players. I think you should make it so you gain the extra shield bar as you level it up so that you don't have to have time to pop a shield cell in the middle of a fight. Which is almost impossible unless you're very good at the game and you can make yourself nearly untouchable with movement.

  • I agree. I think that you should recover a cell shield according the evolution. For example, if you have it lv 1, and take it to lv 2, you recover 25 shield's cell... if you take it to lv 4, then you recover 50 shield's cell..

And I think that the evo shield lv 2 should be 75  shield points, not 50...

  • With the fixed item spawns, the ease with which you can get purple or gold armour somewhat diminishes the usefulness of the evo shield.

If the evo shield makes it into standard & ranked, it'll be more of an interesting choice, as the indecisive poking in the early game that it encourages is conventionally a terrible idea.

On a related note, I wish they'd made the item spawn locations rotate daily, or maybe once every 48 hours.

As is, it's going to rapidly stagnate, as players with too much play time memorise the ideal drop points & looting routes.

@TheJumpingJawaThe dropship and item spawn locations change daily, as for the evo shields I think they should replace all standard bodyshields if they are ever added to the game and maybe they could automatically replenish whenever an enemy squad is eliminated to help with third partying but also so you don’t have to heal each time they level up as shield cells are limited with the current terrible backpack quantity limit setup

No, the item spawn locations last the whole week. (Until the map changes to KC)

It's the ring & drop ship path that change daily.

  • I feel they should also make the map only evo shields and once you reach red it the same as having Gold, this way it evens the field and makes you work for your shield.

Also think will be good idea to get one dash of shield with every knock or kill, this way you have better chance of surviving when facing large groups.

  • We cant judge the mechanics and balance of the EVO shield based on what we experienced in this (useless) time limited game mode since the EVOs usefulness depends on the spawn rate of it and also on the spawn rate of all other types shields, factors that doesnt exist in the time limted mode.

Also, I think getting a free charge every level up would to way to OP tbh and also could create alot of frustration and confusing. Imagin fighting someone with a blue evo and you crack his shield and takes him down to 1 hp when he levels up and suddelty get 50 shield from nowhere. I think the dmg thresholds between levels are quite generous tbh; ony 100 dmg to a white and another 400 dmg to a purple. You can get that during the first minutes if you are good so I see no reason for the free charge at lvl up.

Even if the EVO shield rewards verry good players.
You won't fight them because of SBMM.

So i don't see the problem tbh.

  • @Player_fi1cbr0a My idea for a rework of it is based on the percentage of the shield’s health, for example; picking up a level one, a knocking an enemy without getting hit, making it a Level 2 and have 2 whole bars of shields. And let’s say I did knock down the enemy but he hit left me with 25% of my shield left, as it evolves into the next shield I will be left 25% of shield’s base health. Instead of the total. To make it fair for the opposing teams, and not needing you to burn through your shield cells, batteries and Phoenix kits.
  • Ok, this is long so before reading it, keep in mind that my solution is the exact same as the accepted solution, this whole thing is just my though process and reasons for such buff, the reason i didn't write up earlier is 'cause i wanted to give it a week to make sure to not be rushing any thoughs, just found out that the answer was already said

Ok, i gotta say, when the evo shields were being announced my brain started going throgh a lot of how exactly every detail would work, and the most important questions were how much health it had on lv 2 and 3 (that got answered by respawn) and if the extra health would be added to your health. when they said that no, it just added empty extra health slots i was rather exceptical about the whole deal but decided to at least give it a shot and see how it played out.

As basicaly everyone that played the mode can say, it was lacking to say the least, if 50 health of a white shield weren't a dissapointing enough landing reward, making it only 25 while the guy 2 buildings down the street gets a golden one, wasn't exactly better. but granted, once this is in normal matches that wouldn't be an issue, it still falls apart even when compared to a regular shield, considering that you will normally need to get the drop on someone to get it to lv 2, which is hard enough by being in a stright dissadvantage health, you don't get and inmediate reward, since you have to disengage, get to cover and use your healing supplies just to break even with a white shield, you have to put not only the intended risk of engaging while low on health, you have to take time out of the fight and spend extra supplies, all of this means that even if you pulled of the assasination flawlessly and got away without getting touched, you would have to leave the fight and your advantage just to be in even terms with someone that has minimum gear, it's just not whorth it, and the lv 2 shield suffers from similar problems since your would be running around with this around midgame.

Yes, it definely needs a buff before going into normal mode, but whatever you do with it, keep in mind that a lv 3 is a straight upgrade from a purple shield and a lv 4 is a sidegrade to the golden one, so if you buff it too hard, the upper lvs would be too strong, as such, a minor buff that helps mainly the lower lvs would be to simply make the gained shield space be filled, efectively adding 25-50 to your health mid fight, taking away the time and supplies problem and wouldn't be game breaking in any way since, at the end of the day, unless you were to be facing a guy that has a lv 3 that is at 10 health and you have your last shot in the mag and he pops lv 4 in your face to finish you of with 25 hp left, the only thing this is allowing your enemy is to not be in a direct dissadvantage to you

  • @Player_fi1cbr0a I think the eco shield is a good idea. Personally I would love to see them be the only shields available. Also I think it would be cool if you could level it up with a Phoenix kit or something else rare and valuable.
