New ranked is great so far
New ranked is great so far.
Apex Legends is the first FPS game I'm playing "seriously". I'm more of a RPG, Moba player and the only FPS games I really play are story FPS games. Season 12 was my first time playing an actual FPS and I was able to grind to Gold as someone who doesn't play FPS games at all. And I feel I could get to Platinum last version of ranked just by playing hide-n-seek. Now, this first week I'm still at Bronze 4, almost Bronze 3. I believe I am a Bronze/Silverish player who can achieve Gold still even in this rank because usually when I play games seriously, I train like in fighting games. For example, I use Kovaak's and practice in the firing range, but won't go too far into that.
I enjoy the fact that hide-n-seek players will stay low-ranked and more active players who has good aim and decision making will go higher ranks. The previous ranking system also encouraged the boring playing style of hide-n-seek and a lot of players are still doing it. I'm still in Bronze rank, but I see that only placing isn't enough any more which is great because just hide-n-seeking a decent squad placing shouldn't be the only factor in if you're good at Apex. Apex is an FPS Battle Royale. Now the ranking systems takes both the survival and the FPS aspect into consideration.
Hopefully, players will realize they need to be more active instead of playing hide-n-seek. A lot of times, players will hide in a house looting when I see another squad somewhat nearby and we don't chase them to kill them, only to get 3rd partied by them later. Plus, like I've mentioned many times, hide-n-seek is boring. This isn't Prop Night or Dead By Daylight.
This is Apex Legends.
