@ComicBookGuy2727There was stretch in the last two or three years of Halo 3 where I bought my xbox live three months at a time and started on a new account each time. The matchmaking in that game was already not great, then the smurfing began in earnest after about the first year. After that it was all over but the crying. Since there was no "being part of the solution" as there was no solution, the only thing a sane man could do was become part of the problem. I'm telling you, in the run up to the launch of Reach there was no one left in H3 who was what their banner said they were.
And like Apex, that was no niche game with a small population, even after three years. It's sad and I really want to blame players for being adhd or just plain bad people, but the truth is that most of the blame has to be laid at the feet of the developers for their hideous matchmaking algorithms, and now, in the case of Apex, for their active support of streamers and pros, who, as always, make these problems worse merely by existing.
