Hey everyone,
On the cheating front, please see our latest update from the team!

But they have a valid point that linux atm is a cheat vector. It might be only 5% of all the cheating going on in Apex, but it is/was growing at a fast pace for several reasons.
Imho the right choice for now is to fight only on the windows side of things, you dont want the AntiCheat Teams workload off the charts.
But what i dont get is, why dont we get our input based lobbies then ?
Stupid controller hardware emulators would not work as intended in a MnK lobby that has AA and controller access turned off ! - 11 months ago
That's ridiculous. Do they really expect us to believe that spoofing Linux Steam Decks is a significant amount of cheaters? This! Someone had roughly calculated here that there can ‘only’ be a maximum of 900 cheaters and 2100 honest players have to pay for it.

Stupid controller hardware emulators would not work as intended in a MnK lobby that has AA and controller access turned off !Exactly! If the players KNEW exactly that this and everything else possible was being done against cheaters and the remaining cheaters, let's say 20% of all players, were only on Linux, then I could perhaps understand this step. Although it's pretty weak.
My view: I BELIEVE that very little is being done against cheaters, regardless of the OS. And as written above, cheaters on Linux are not (have not been) the main problem.
So I think the reason for the shutdown on Linux is a pretence. At least they could be honest about that.

@saurerDropsXXLthose numbers from quadeamador aren't valid.
he does the same mistake as everyone else who takes the steamchart numbers as the entire PC Apex community.
You dont need Steam to run Apex on Linux, you can also play it via Origin/EA App installed via Lutris or just copy the files of an Installation to your machine.
the only thing you really need is an EA Account no matter what, even if you connect via steam you have to link your steam account to an EA one to be able to play the game.
And if i look at a infamous Cheatforum Website and see over hundreds of thousands of views on those Apex Linux Cheat topics , its likely not only 900 ppl !
I get why they had to shut down the possibility of using Linux, bcs for several reasons that i dont want to elaborate in depth (bcs it could be seen as advertising those practices) , Apex Cheating on Linux was growing fast.
But if with that approach , they also have to follow through with input based lobbies, since the majority of cheaters are using those devices you could easily buy on Amazon to give their controllers an extra boost.
