I agree 100% that the concept of Wildcard is a good one, even though I spent entire seasons ranting about LTMs with free and unlimited respawns. No, I've definitely come to see the benefit - although I still have to say that I don't want them in the main game. And I'm pretty sure they're coming. Maybe not this season, maybe not next season, but at some point... they're coming.
Yeah, Wildcard seems great on paper, but as always, the devil is in the details. I never encountered a Mirage three stack, but my reaction would have been instantaneous: QUIT. I left before the over-powered weaponry became a thing. If the motion proliferation hadn't driven me out then the weapons definitely would have.
And I get it. It's supposed to be an "anything goes" format where kids can just rack up easy stats. Sure. I guess. Problem is they've taken it far enough that I'm pretty sure I'm not the only player they've driven out of the hopper. The more they amp things up then the more they polarize "winners" and "losers." And suddenly the losers get fed up and leave and there's nobody left but a small pack of sweat-soaked Adderall junkies on some kind of perpetual repeat loop. Yet another Solos, another buster sword, another quads. Another good idea ruined by poor execution. Trying to pull in some kid who was always going to flake off back to Fortnite no matter what Respawn came up with to try to lure them in. Wait a minute... a dev who doesn't understand their core audience or what should be the immutable features of their own gameplay? If I had a buck for every time THAT happened....
