Apex is the job, Diamond is just the interview process. If you don't prove you can do the job in the interview, then you won't get the job.
That's just how I see it anyway.

Having to go against top 500 preds that are 3 stacking isnt going to prove anything. The skill gap is way too different and it's not fair. Diamonds should have to go against other diamonds and no one else. I dont care if there isnt more diamonds online to fill the lobby up, guess we just wont play then. There shouldnt be more apex legends in diamond lobbies than actual diamonds
- 6 years ago@Tperodactyl If the skill gap is way too different between you and predators, then you have reached your skill ceiling and just have to accept your a diamond level player? I have been unable to make points consistently in order to rank up now I've hit Diamond, meaning my skill ceiling is Diamond.
And come on, you can't say the reason your losing every Diamond ranked game is because every time It's a top 200 apex predator, I have tonnes of games where I don't see Apex predators in diamond and also a lot of games where I do. There's plenty of opportunities to make points and rank up in diamond, some of us just can't.
Last season only 0.2% of the player base reached Apex Predator, the odds are against you, and even more so if you're solo-queueing like myself.- 6 years ago
Your logic doesnt make much sense. Theres a difference between a predator and a top 100 predator on PC you do realize that right? Just because I cant kill pros doesnt mean I'm capped out at diamond 4
- 5 years ago@Tperodactyl Theres a huge difference between a d4 and d3 player. In my mind there’s only 3 tier levels: plat 4 and under, plat 3-diamond 4, and d3-pred. Personally, I want to play preds to get better at the game even if I get rolled constantly. For me it’s competition, and I don’t want to play against people who are easy to win against.

That kind of ranking system you mentioned (diamond going only vs other diamonds) would lead to an almost continuous flow (as long as people keep playing ranked) of players getting to Master hardstuck at 10.000 RP. Theoretically, look at it this way:
If Diamonds only fought other Diamonds, the "best" Diamonds would progress the fastest through the division and reach Master first. These players are now removed from the Diamond matchmaking and at the same time, the same exact thing is happening in Platinum and the "best" Platinum player reaches Diamond4 and are now in the Diamond-only lobbies, many of them being "the worst" Diamonds. Now when the "best" Diamond players are out of the matchmaking, the "better", i.e slightly worse than "best", Diamonds are now the "best" in the Diamond matchmaking queue and will eventually reach Master and the loop will theoretically go on and on until pretty much everyone can reach master.
This phenomena is even a thing with the current matchmaking system; you can CLEARLY feel the difference in average skill level at Diamond as the split goes on. So to put some limit to this, I think its very necessary that Diamonds have to start fighting the big boys in Master/pred IF they want to start grind towards Master. I played to master some splits ago and its not like the majority of a Diamond 4 lobby are Masters or preds.
- AreYouShivering5 years agoNew Ace@VoKks9 Nice allegory. Job interview and employer wants to kill you. :D
- 5 years ago
But don't they?
That's why you need to kill your employer first.
In fact, kill everybody first before they kill you.
...and then go to IHOP.
