Interesting, how everyone, who comes with the "brilliant" idea of leaver penalty in casual, mentions the League of Legends, which is totally different game and doesn't mention For Honor, that also have a leavers penalty in regular matches and is also an action game, for a change... but - surprise! surprise! - have a lousy online. So maybe, just MAYBE the temporal ban as a leaver penalty in action game's casual is not such a great idea after all?
MOBA auditory are different people. They have the will and dedication to learn the rules, mechanics and character combinations. So they come with a totally different approach, and they come to stay. So I understand that for you, people who take the game seriously and try to get the best results every time, leavers can be a serious pain in the *.
But for the majority of FPS players, this game is a fast - yolo style undemanding chill, and leavers aren't a real problem. Does someone leave on me? I make some propositions about his mother and her line of work, and ... leave too. It takes 30 seconds (or even less) to found another game.
Also, in the case of Apex Legends temporal bun for quitters can drop the online numbers tremendously, cause a lot of the players are teenagers, who rage-quit all the time. And I've seen some kids with huge cooldown times in ranked, who just continued to quit.
So I think that the R6 system - leavers penalty in ranked, no obligations in casual - is ideal for Apex (and any other fast-paced shooting game).
