They should just add a time penalty (a couple of minutes) if you leave early. Some argue that it wouldn’t be fair because people get crashes. I know nothing about programming but is it not possible to detect if the player pressed quit or if they just disconnected?
I’m really tired of quitters. I even ping their body or banner to let them know that I’m coming for them but they still just leave.
If they have to wait for a couple of minutes in the lobby this would stop. Because why wait there if you can wait (shorter time) in game instead and actually maybe get revived/respawned.
Some new players seems to not understand that they can get respawned. This should be made more clear with some notification of some kind. Like “Waiting to be respawned” across the screen or something.

- 7 years agoLeague of Legends is a good example of that particular punishment, and out of the multitude of years it has been around, it still can't differentiate from a hard leave, and a DC. Not saying they couldn't do it here, but just wondering if it really is actually possible.
I personally have left games before, I wont try and hide that fact, but generally I do it because the match is over for me anyway, and me staying is only going to get my squad killed faster. I've even mentioned in other threads that I don't mind it when people do it on the landing.
It's hard to get to their deathbox when we just touched down, I have no guns, and there are 4 other squads running around. YES, I WILL, try and get your banner, but if you leave, then I don't have to, and I can actually play the match for maybe a few minutes longer. Instead of having to throw myself at 4 other squads, just to end the match early for the entire squad, because we were all downed trying to get to you.
It's when we are 5+ minutes into the game when I start getting irritated by it. You're whole squad is fully kitted, we are fighting against 1, maybe 2 other squads, why wouldn't we have a decent chance of getting your banner? Whats worse is it is almost always these level 80+ people with 1000's of kills that do it. Just because you're great at the game, doesn't mean everyone else, including your own team, is complete garbage, and can't get a few kills. I don't know how many times I've wiped an entire squad, immediately after they down someone and they leave.- 7 years ago
This is the one and only issue really getting under my skin the past two days people are just quitting as soon as they land if they get Downed they just quit and don’t even bother waiting to get revived!
- 7 years ago@MechaDraco What do you mean by “I don’t mind it when people do it on the landing”? Quitting the game prematurely at any point is just plain selfish. You leave the rest of your team in a terrible situation. I for one am not really skilled enough to win solo vs squads so I need everyone of my teammates end game to have a shot at winning. Of course there are times early game that you just can’t get to the banner in time. You can’t just blindly rush in for it but it’s worth so much so I always try hard to. I mean you have 90 seconds on the banner. The players who killed your teammate(s) are probably not going to stick around for that long so sometimes you can just hide and wait. Like if you’re low health and it’s a full team. I’ve had such great clutch games when I (or my teammate) managed to Respawn both teammates and get a win against all odds. That’s one of the best thing about this game.
Don’t quit!
@prayandplay I don’t understand what you mean when you say they just create new accounts? What does that has to do with this?
And the goal with a short time penalty is quite clear. To give them less incentive to quit before the game actually is over.

NO!
It does not lead to anything good and has no purpose. To avoid this, people simply create new accounts, and the time penalty alone teaches nothing and leads to nothing.
What kind of goal does it have? Time penalties are the invention of mentally ill dictators who have too much free time.

Training goes over the respawn mechanics in Apex. How would players not know about respawns?
- 7 years agoSome probably skip the training bit.
