I can give you one example from my own experience of how/why this can happen.
Let's take Broken Moon as an example. I would say that in 9 out of 10 matches where I'm not the jumpmaster my squadmates will jump into Terraformer. I won't go there. I'll never go there unless that's where the circle closes. So I choose my own drop and go. Then I wait for them to die. The wait isn't usually very long. Every once in a while I get so tired of the same scenario repeating over and over again that I'll quit from the drop ship as soon as I see where they're jumping.
Spare me the speech about how I'm a bad teammate for not supporting my squad and I'll spare you the speech about how I didn't kill them, they killed themselves.
There are a lot of reasons why people in this game do things that don't always appear to make sense or appear to have the best interest of the team in mind. If you're really gonna advocate that we start banning people for exercising their own judgment then be guaranteed that at some point you will do something that seems completely reasonable to you and infuriates someone else. And you get a five minute slap on the wrist for it. In your casual, free-to-play game.

@reconzeroSpoke out of my very soul. Fragment H.D's gave me all the trauma i needed. And have countless times been told why i don't play Solo when im not following and the justification is always the same..i hardly enjoy putting my game into RNG's hands.

I understand everyone can make their own decisions on how to play the game, it just seems really odd the increase in just the last few weeks of people joining, picking a legend and then dropping out.Often this is even before the squad has actually left the drop ship
I do also understand that not everyoe agrees on where to drop - personally i hate hot dropping but i do stick with it as i have chosen to play a team based game. And i am sure i have done many things that have not benefitted the team, but always unintentionally. I just think if you have chosen to play a squad based game and then decided to waste other peoples time by dropping out (whether it's because they're not playing the way you want or another reason) then a 5 minute penalty is not really a big deal, which i would personally accept if i did this. It could even only be applied if you quit while the rest of your team is still alive and active, just as an incentive.

@Sutts2014Reasons might be :
- One picked the other ones Legend he needs (either for his playstyle or a challenge)
- Wrong Drop Spot
- Wrong Drop Speed or route (too slow or flying too fancy ?!?)
- Not dropping in the first 2/3 of the Map (might be a sign for an AFK Jumpmaster)
- And again : Teammates Legend Choice (People quit when they have an Octane on the Team...)
- Wrong Mode (People wanted to play a different Mode , but are send to Trios ...)
- Phone/Doorbell is ringing
- Girlfriend/Wife/Mum screams you away form the PC/Console
- * Internet/ crappy connection to that particular Server
- Wrong nationality (i guess some Ukrainians arent keen on playing with Russians on a team atm)
- loud music or tv being picked up over the mic, does not only annoy the teammates but also distracts the actual "culprit" from the ingame sounds, makes for a hell of a team mate
and i guess there are even more "Reasons" that make sense to the Player that quits, as @reconzero described in his post- r1ggedgame2 years agoSeasoned Ace
forgot one of the main reasons to quit a game early :
in Fuse Words : Taking a * fellas !
Edit OMFG, its allowed as a voiceline in game but not in the Forum, now you guys make me laugh hard !

Sometimes end-of-season brings out the strange and confounding in people. But also, if you're experiencing a lot of people disappearing between legend selection and drop ship then that could be just plain old connection problems. It's not as if this game never had any of those before....

When your jump master you can decide where to go, but to leave your team that is on you 100%, maybe they wouldnt of died if you had of dropped with them, you can justify it both ways...
Now, I get it when you are jump master and you ping somewhere and drop, and then someone breaks off to go on their own, don't ping, or say no to your choice, ya screw em then.
I say we advocate for people who are obvious serial disconnectors who are only in it for themselves, and instead of picking to not autofill their team and drop alone, instead they join a team and ruin the game for the other 1 or 2 players cause they are selfish. Want to play a single player game go find one.
With the ways they could track how someone disconnects / leaves a game, as I noted above, they could easily create a system that would only legit ban the abusers of disconnecting, not just anyone who gets a single "Abandoned match early" complaint against them. They can compare it against telemetry they likely already collect on players back and forth from the client to the server.
