Players who only push and die

If you ever figure out a way to separate these people into their own lobbies the health of this game would improve drastically. I'd rather be paired with a bot that could be a meatbag in my general vicinity as opposed to just dying far away where nobody can clean up their kills.

  • @gdgipson Those players are looking for the 1 in 100 where they actually survive. It's about content or stories they can tell their friends. I find it infuriating. I can't deal with getting melted instantly 99 times just for that 1 time you live to tell the tale.
  • @gdgipson This is one of the many reasons why I wish they would just add solos and leave it permanently. I don’t think that’s what you’re going for but having legend taken (especially in ranked) players wanting to push every single fight even if they go deep into zone barley get the kills and just end up dying to zone. It’s so stupid how people chase every fight. When you try to play smart and your teammates are dead they just talk down to you like trashhhh and rat. I will never understand it the goal is the last one alive. If they add solos I won’t ever have a reason to get on forums and complain because that’s all I want every day I play this game.

Gonna play the devils advocate now but sometimes (but definitely now always), the reason your random teammate pushes and just dies is because you didnt follow =)

Ive been in many situation when I single handedly knock one enemy and do 120 of 150 dmg on the second without loosing any HP myself. I then check the teammates HP on the HUD and see they are both full and I spam enemy here  to indicate that I am going in to finish this easy 3 vs 1.2 fight. I  go in, fight, perhaps knocks the one I already cracked and then dies to the last player but thinks to myself "no worries, my two full health teammates will 2v1 this guy easy" but realizes they ran the other way and now is half way up a jump tower and says "wHY dO yoU pUSh AnD dIE nOOOb???" =). There are so many playing styles and none of them is "objectively" the right one.

I usually ask "aggro or safe" at the beginning of the match, or try to assess based on their legend pick and the weapons they choose what kind of players they are. A Wraith and an Octane with shotgun and SMG will probably push everything whereas a Caustic and a Watson with a sniper will probably play more defensive =)

But then there are ofc those who just dont care. They rather fight, die and join another match if they dont win that fight. This also in ranked if they are smurfs.

  • @gdgipson Unfortunately you guys are the minority.
Game is not big enough to make solo ranked queue, if there was, the original team queues would be very very long and solo ranked queue would pop off because of skill gaps in random teams.

The problem right now is, it's impossible to tell who can actually play, because the ranking goes too heavy onto placement and not performance. The real problem is the lack of action against mountain campers, these actions in a teamplay should be bannable in ranked play.

I can't stand dropping far away from action and looting forever. I get pushing the action. But what I'll do for example is go to a fight solo and stay on the perimeter and usually the teammates will follow. Or I'll get the enemies attention and bring them to my teammates.

But it's just so strange that so many players will just push a 1 v 3 and die. The fact that people will get separated somehow and push solo and die, sometimes it seems to me I'll have a session where it's 80 to 90 percent of the time. Like what is going on? And then they'll just quit.

I think there should be an option for people to tag players with a label. You shouldn't be able to see your label, but maybe being labeled by everyone else can help shuffle people into teams that are more productive.

Yeah, I never think you should hard push unless you got some kind of advantage, either in terms of total HP of the team, or position wise, like high ground etc. Only exception is ofc if you have to push like when you fight for position during the last rounds. Too many players just hard pushes for no reason just because they wanna frag, like you said, straight into a 1v3 and dies straight away

In ranked, the main reason for this is ofc that too few people play at their peak rank, i,e they are smurfing. Might not be their fault because of Respawns fondess for resets hehe. If every player played and their peak rank, trying hard to climb, they wouldnt do this. Only when you know that you generally are better than your opponents and/or doesnt care and just plays for fun, you push like an idiot = smurfs

    Nope.

They went in and I didn't follow because they didn't want to move as a team. It's on them. Each player needs to evaluate each engagement and the TEAM must agree, or there is no team work.

The most successful teams are those that MOVE AS A TEAM.

    Full stop.

    @gdgipson

I love to drop hot because I am anticipating the engagement. It is far easier when you are not focused on running around looking for an engagement.

Also, there are times when I am tired after a number of matches I tend to want to drop safe to take my time.

@dirtymonkey6627 I actually won one of my last crypto matches on E district that way.
I was paired with an Ash and another, the other quit before the game began, and ash was champion. Ash ate 3 squads then died, and left before they became a banner. I was almost within drone range. We started together but they just ran and ran and I was trying to hunt all the beacons and evo bins around and get some loot so I could possibly hold my own. I had utter trash when they got downed and left. So I wound up solo at 15 squads left.
Next to final ring, 5 squads left, I narowly got past the bloodbath that was going on to get into the ring, drone hiding atop a building to avoid destruction, and I off the grid just in the next ring by the bloodbath. Ring closes, the next ring would be the final ring before final closing, but I won because the blood bath, about 25 meters outside the ring, got eaten by the ring, and apparently everyone was there. The final squad pretty much just sat inside the burning ring, and I was cloaked just outside it in safety, so they crispied and I got a free win. Wasn't even the final ring yet, and they had an easy escape to safety, but they decided to sit there and crispy. Maybe they had a seer who was heartbeat sensoring me and couldn't read the direction indicator? Perhaps a bloodhound was following the trail in the wrong direction? I don't know. They basically just sat there.
In the end, I watched wraith and one other attempt to make it to the safety, but they both died and then deathboxed near immediately, and I was 15 meters from them not getting crispied, and it gave me the win.
Half my wins are by the ring honestly.
    1) 2 weeks after catalyst launch, I took a position on a rooftop with a full premade of clanmates, as Rampart. 5 squads left. Ring's closing to the next will be final, and we got an instant win. Apparently everyone else got trapped on the other side, in the C nook by the building that looks similar to map station but has a blue beam. Relay station? I forget what it's called. Broken Moon, northeast area.
    2) kings canyon, crashed ship. NewCastle. Full random team. We landed, and the ring kept centering on us, next to final ring we just held the other 4 squads off our ship. Final ring it was just one other and us, we had the ship and they were on the ground with one way up, which my grenades kept at bay. Final closing instantly killed that way up, I retreated, and they got crispied beneath us.
    3) That match as crypto.
    I forget other crispifying matches.
Other notable wins: Revival, E-District, Crypto just got off the grid within a couple days ago, so I was trying it out. I was also trying out akimbo. 5 squads left, pathfinder gets downed and leaves before we can pick him up. 3 squads left rampart gets downed, 2 squads left rampart leaves thinking I'm doomed. I just happened to get myself perfectly dead center of the final closing. There's literally only one enemy left, a pathfinder.
He's jumping on the building and on the hut and all over the place trying to find me.
When the ring neared completion, I dove down, EMPd from the other side of the hut, and nailed him, waited a couple seconds as he frantically looked everywhere, then the ring was within double melee distance, so I exitted and opened fire with my akimbo p20s, and got the win.
I knew the perfect strat for off the grid then.

    NOPE.
A few matches later I tried to do a similar thing, and got grenaded to smitherines. The fact they had a fuse didn't help. At least I had my whole squad left in that final 2. We lost unfortunately. That and they sniped my drone through the structure multiple times, and I can't figure out how they managed to thread those shots from that position. Drone should have been perfectly safe. But anyways. Worth a shot.
