They have said there will be opportunities to get skins through the battle pass, but I mean you are going to have to pay for the battle pass. Free ride is over.
Problem is we don't want to play more when we don't feel rewarded as a result of playing hundreds of hours. I'd like to say before people start hitting me. I know this is a f2p game, but we do not expect them to rain free skins on us... Unlimited grind is essential in an online game to keep people in the game. Just let us unlimited grind for free stuff or unlockables or achivements&challenges whatever... otherwise after a while people get bored and the game will die. Most of my friends bored and quit. I have to play solo now... I don't want to see it happen globaly.
Also we don't know what we get with battlepass...(yes i will probably buy it) Will it provide us unlimited grind for three months? or just another 100 level for achive in 1 month? Will there be daily quests that will cause players to return every day?
An easy way for adding unlimited grind to game is apex pack sale with high amount of legend coins. so ppl can grind exp after 100 in a meaningful way... I can't understand why people like you are opposing it. This will not harm the company's sales and you do not have a profit from these sales. why are you opposing. "This is a f2p game","it's not a charity", "They have to earn money for continuity" bla bla bla... I know all of this, and I'll support by buying battlepass, but that's not the point. Don't bring the subject here all the time... Subject about to continuity. it's about making people addicted to the game. The only way to do this is to add grind.
You don't need to be rewarded for playing games. Playing games is the reward.

Well its not 80s... welcome to 2019. In terms of competition between games rewarding is important these days.
Also you do not need to be an opposing voice on everything. sometimes the majority is absolutely right. you must give up this effort...

As previously stated best to wait and see what the battlepass brings. I don't think its entirely unreasonable to cap how much you can get from a free-to-play game for entirely free. At the end of the day its free to play not free to complete. So buying the battlepass that allows progression is acceptable to me. Just hope the progression is exciting and worthwhile. That said id like an increased cap on the levels too, even if just for the number with no reward, I don't like the idea that in x months/years time everyone will be 100 and some may have 5 years experience, some 5 months, and trackers will only be partially useful as someone could 'smurf' on a character they never use, or just remove trackers. Either way, that's my 2 cents.

With certain games that's true. Coming from a generation where playing games was always its own reward I can agree with that up to a certain point. Take The Witcher 3 for example, playing that game is its own reward because it's such a stunning experience from the gameplay to the main to story and even the small side stories, there was always something new to discover and be rewarded with BUT a game like Apex is very different in that regard.
There is no story, there is nothing new to discover. there is just drop in, fight, survive, maybe win and level up. The incentive to level up was Apex packs and Legend Tokens but if you're like me and dropped money to buy the two legends then one part of the incentive for progression (The legend tokens) now becomes meaningless and then eventually the other part of the progression (Apex PAcks) gets taken away completely leaving you with a very unrewarding experience in leveling up which means zero incentive for any further progression and when progression is really all the game has to offer to keep people playing then taking away the incentive for said progression leaves people feeling even more like thier time isn't being rewarded.
I bought the starters pack, the founders pack, have dropped money on coins and bought both legends. By this point I've speant over what you would spend on a triple A game's standard price point and I don't regret it at all because I had plans to spend literally hundreds of hours playing Apex BUT when you make it to lvl100 everything does feel like it drops off and you don't really feel like spending time/money on the game anymore because of that.
I used to get home from work an want to hop straight on Apex with my buds but after reaching level 100 I find myself just shrugging Apex off and finding something else to play because I know there's no point in me leveling up anymore because I get nothing for it. 71,400 Legend Tokens is what I have right now and the only thing leveling up is going to do is get me more of the meaningless currency I can't use.
- 7 years agoThe saying "hard work is its own reward" is true but everybody still wants a paycheck.
Playing a game just to play it is fine but to expect that game to compete long term with games that are just as fun but more rewarding is just silly.
