Hi, thanks for posting.
You are correct. Anyone in this thread who thinks Mirage is strong or even decent is woefully mistaken. Mirage is by far the worst legend in the game, and has only been marginally improved since season 1.
- Mirage's tactical is very niche and provides virtually zero useful intel to you or your team. It's ONLY advantage is the distraction it can provide once firefights have started and people are high on adrenaline and shooting anything that moves.
- Mirage's ultimate is the worse in the game; far worse than Wraith's tactical ability. It's on a long cooldown, has a delay on activation and only lasts for ~6 seconds. In addition to this, your footsteps still make a lot of noise when invisible so players can continue to track you wherever you go, and sometimes even shoot you when you're invisible. Because of this his ultimate is pretty much useless in Platinum or above.
- Mirage's passive (invisibility after being knocked) is okay but doesn't do anything to actually help you survive, win fights or help your team.
In addition:
- Mirage is the only Assault character without a reliable escape.
- He's the only character whose abilities provide no team utility whatsoever
Mirage is the worst character in the game and simply not viable in high-level play. His abilities need significant changes to make him viable.
Here are some suggestions to fix Mirage:
Mirage's Tactical (Decoy)
Buff:
- Give the decoys persistence so they don't go away when shot; maybe have them momentarily glitch up instead
- When the decoy is shot (bamboozled) the shooter is marked similar to Boodhound's scan instead of the vague icon that appears now; every shot will update this scan
Mirage's Ultimate (Invisibility)
Buff:
- Have the clones run in all directions instead of standing still (useless), and give them footsteps similar to his tactical.
- Make the activation instant so it can be used during fights.
- Make your footsteps completely silent when invisible.
- Reduce the cooldown by 30 seconds.
Alternate Rework #1:
- Remove invisibility and replace it with a partially transparent "cloaking" type effect similar to season 1.
- Activating the ultimate cloaks you and all nearby teammates as well, creating clones of everyone that stand in the position they were in when you activated the cloak.
- Extend the duration to 10-12 seconds so it can be used to relocate your team.
Alternate Rework #2
- Have the clones run in all directions.
- When the clones are shot (bamboozled) the shooter is marked similar to Boodhound's scan
- Make the activation instant so it can be used during fights.
- Instead of invisibility, Mirage vanishes and gains a bird's eye view of his clones running in different directions. Mirage can then "become" any one of the clones that is still active. If the enemy shoots all of the clones, Mirage will automatically "become" that last one that is remaining. This will force the enemy to either shoot all of the clones, spotting themselves in the process, or allow Mirage to choose from a variety of different positions to respawn into.
