Please look into my account matchmaking (Cheaters, Smurfs, Broken SBMM)

Hey everyone,

I am posting this because I am honestly exhausted with how my matches are going lately. I love playing Apex and I just want to have a fair, competitive experience. Right now, that feels completely impossible.

It feels like my account is stuck in the absolute worst matchmaking pool, and I am begging for someone to look into it. Here is what I am dealing with in almost every single session:

Cheaters: I am tired of getting tracked perfectly through cover or beamed across the map by people who are very clearly using third party software.

Smurfs: Seeing level 20 accounts with 20 bomb and 4k damage badges wiping my squad in seconds is ruining the game. It completely defeats the purpose of skill based matchmaking.

Unfair Skill Gaps: I just want to play against people of my own actual skill level. I do not want to be matched with Masters or Apex Predators when I am just trying to have a normal game in my own bracket.

The current system makes it impossible to learn, improve, or even just have fun. I am constantly being used as target practice for players who are either way above my skill tier or exploiting the game.

I am really hoping a dev or community manager sees this post. Is there any way my account can be checked or flagged so I stop getting thrown into these impossible lobbies? I just want to play against real, legitimate players at my actual skill level.

My EA username is cyberwo1fie and my in-game display name is MAYHEM.

Thanks for reading.

I'm sorry to interrupt your discussion about this game, but no matter what you say here, the developers won't take it seriously. Complaining won't change anything either.

  • I'm having the same problem in Wildcard. I'm stuck in a lobby where I play with the same people every day.

Matchmaking sometimes takes 3-4 minutes, only to have to play with the same three-stack players again.

This wouldn't bother me if it weren't for the fact that some of these people (a significant portion) are definitely cheating, either using third-party devices (I also have a lot of people in the lobby from consoles) or various scripts, as evidenced by tracking and recoil.

I simply don't want to constantly play with the same people who get 20-30 kills in every game.

I have to leave nine out of ten games after checking who's in my lobby.

  • Same experience here. Its very depleting, you feel helpless and frustrated.

I have seen different former Devs explain why SBMM was created in the first place for various different titles (I believe this theory whole heartedly) -

These Devs explained the reason why SBMM was created and implemented was because of cheaters. No Dev studio wants to ban their cheater base. Why? - simple, studies have shown that on average, cheaters spend more money in game than players who don't cheat. Don't take my word for it, go ahead and do your own research!

It was explain that instead of banning an entire player base (one that is growing constantly), SBMM was created to eventually force cheaters to the top of the same skill ceiling, so ultimately they would face each other - hence no need to ban them and it would keep them out of the other lobbies and away from players that don't cheat.

All good in theory however, what happens to legit players who's skill level rises? Well it eventually caps out when they reach the same ceiling cap as the cheaters, then they themselves become the fodder for the cheaters.

What makes this really bad, and impossible to combat, is when a cheater becomes frustrated facing their own kind or get banned... they simply make a new account and play through again, stomping on everyone else along their way to their cheating skill cap. Rinse and repeat.

You can bet your a*s, that at the top of the skill ceiling where the SBMM forces the cheaters to the top is running at LEAST, 60% cheater rate, and rapidly growing (again, don't take my word for it, do your own research) And well, we've seen enough top Pred players in the world nailed for cheating how many times???

There is no fixing this, when the gaming companies themselves spend more money trying to understand why people cheat, to categorize them into different groups and to figure out how they think and why; instead of spending money to defeat them and remove them permanently... this plague will never end. Clearly cheaters have hijacked the gaming industry and have more control and power than the studios and gaming companies themselves, let alone the lack of willingness to remove them and lose revenue.

Competitive online/multiplayer gaming is over! We legit players have lost this battle, long ago.
