I guess that additonal boost is to counter the enemy who probably have a weapon and are running away for better aiming.
Fair enough for me, what's more frustrating is rubber banding when someone punching you multible times.
Often seen at the start of the game when everyone drop down and scouts for weapons.
Looks basically like they hit you from 10 meters distance.
