The quality of team play has always been bad, and it honestly hasn't ever been (at least for me) the people who leave early when they get downed.
If you want to talk about bad team play, talk about how people take forever to loot and get killed while looting. Talk about people ignoring pings, people looting dead teammate's boxes despite being close to a respawn beacon, talk about people who have microphones and don't use them except to tell everyone else on the team how bad they are, talk about teammates who don't split off to find their own loot and think 3 people looting 1 building is a recipe for success, talk about people who pop shots off on enemies 700 meters away with R-99s, talk about people who don't understand effective ranges, talk about people who don't ping better loot for you, talk about people who wait for you to open supply caches then take everything inside, talk about people who hoard grenades and don't pick up actual supplies, talk about people who pick up sniper rifles but don't understand positioning or who have awful aim, talk about people with microphones with bad callouts, bad decision making, bad aim, bad judgement, talk about the actions that your teammates take that drag down the enjoyment of the game for people who actually want to play with people who are just as good, or better than they are. Which, hint hint, is why so many people wanted a permanent solo mode.
Personally? All these posts that want people to be punished for leaving early are (in my mind) the people I get daily who can't get a kill to save their lives. All of them read the same to me, "I had someone who was gonna carry me to victory, but they left, and now I'm mad! They should be punished for not carrying me!" If I can't punish people for the things I've put in the previous paragraph, there's no real reason you should be able to punish me for leaving early, because I don't wanna waste my time watching brain-dead teammates flop around like fish outta water, missing every single shot with their current weapon. If your enjoyment of the game is ruined because someone left early, my enjoyment of the game is ruined because the people I play with haven't touched a mouse and keyboard in their entire lives. If it's infuriating to have someone leave as you grab your banner, it's DOUBLY infuriating to ALWAYS have teammates that are dead and NEED their banner picked up.

There's a difference in someone being bad at a game and someone being bad at being a person. Inconveniencing 2 people because you can't be bothered to wait 2 minutes and play out the rest of your expiry is just a sign of a bad person - someone who is wholly self-centered.
Frankly, I play better solo because I maintain my own pace and don't have to chase clowns like you around who think they've looted an area by streaking through a single building. It makes more sense to actually loot properly than to just blast through, pick up two items, and have to cover a bunch of open ground to do it once again. It also makes more sense to move systematically and strategically across a map, rather than what guys like you do.
But, if I have teammates, then I expect that they should wait, just as I do. It's inconsiderate to drop early. It's rude. Once they're respawned, they're a liability. I have to re-equip them, which often means losing some of my gear. But in the last ring or two, having that extra bullet sponge is often a huge difference so, if you want to win rather than just play it out as far as you can and rack up kills, an intact team is your greatest strength.
You just sound like an inconsiderate, self-centered tool. It's a team-based game. If you don't want to play a team-based game, then play something with an FFA mode.- 6 years ago
Well if I'm a bad person, then I guess everyone I play with must be good, including the people who leave early. Which happens pretty frequently to me too, but you don't see me making posts complaining about punishing these people. Why? Because they weren't that great to play with in the first place, and it's a blessing not having to carry dead weight with me.
Your first "point" is to insult me, which is a pretty telling sign that I was on the dot about you needing someone to carry you. Congrats! Your only reason for why you're in the right, and I'm just a silly clown, is the assumption that I'm just an idiot who doesn't know how to play the game. Which is also pretty telling of how poorly you think of your teammates in the first place, regardless of whether or not they leave early. High horse much?
Next, your expectations of people have quite literally nothing to do with how people actually react to the situations at hand. You expect people to wait for you? That's great! You're only letting yourself down. If I ran around expecting people to be good at the game, only to see that they're not (which they really aren't.), should I get an option to punish them for that? Absolutely not, that's ridiculous. Just because you have expectations for people, doesn't mean you're entitled to people living up to them, which is really what this entire thread is about. Being entitled to someone's time because you think your enjoyment of the game is more important than theirs. It's pathetic.

It's really cute, you trying to make it look like I'm the one who opened up with insults.
When you join a conversation with, "the only people who complain about this suck," you're starting with the insults, even if you don't have the courage to clearly direct the insult.
You're the one who bashed people who don't know how to play the game. I'm cool with noobs. Everyone has to learn. And some people just suck. I'll respawn them almost as fast as someone who's great, and I'll try just as hard to get them back in the game. I want them to play and have fun, too. I could not care less about how bad someone is at the game. That was all you whining about that.
You just refuse to play the game as a team member. It's a team game. You're not a team player. The game wasn't designed for you, which is why they've been so resistant to a solo mode since launch and which is why solo mode isn't here anymore. Go play something with FFA so you don't ruin the game for others.
- 5 years ago@pastaclown So basically you hate new people and need to go play ranked.
Getting teammates who are bad at the game or new to the game is part of playing a TEAM game. They're a trillion times better than some 40k kill wraith sweat who instantly leaves the second they're downed, in my opinion.
Now I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, for sure it's annoying when teammates play poorly, but that's what Ranked is meant for - to give you skill based match making where you're with people of a certain quality.
Public lobbies are for playing the game and having fun, even if you're new or suck at the game.
As for "I had someone who was gonna carry me to victory, but they left, and now I'm mad" LOL. I think it might be more the "now I'm down a teammate while other people aren't". Not that you won't be carried to victory. I hate it just as much when my 40k kill wraith insta quits as I do when my level 2 bangalore who seems like they've never played a video game before insta quits.
Bottom line though, it's a team game, you stick with your team, whatever you happen to get. If you're an absolute god at the game go play ranked and get yourself to Predator, because people who insta quit always sound like you to me, whining about how amazing they are and how bad everyone else is like anybody cares.
