Quit Punishment
There needs to be a quit punishment of some kind in this game, or a reward for people who stay in the game. I've had so many games where teammates quit in all sorts of times during a match. Just this...

Its because brs are large rng based and you do statistically have a better chance of winning if you play passive...
Two equally skilled players land in the same building...one gets a pk and shield the other gets a p2020 no shield...player two has lost to luck instead of skill...
Players who play passive encounter less foes and inherently have less risks of losing. And at some point your loot will still be good if you play passive...last 2 teams can't have all the purple shields attachments that spawned... They will forcibly leave good loot in death boxes for stragglers to snag...
Just the way brs are unfortunately....

I don't see why you say thats unfortunate? Cause your favorite streamers stream would be too boring? Why play a BR then?
You call it playing passive. I call it a strategy. But on the other hand sometimes its better to attack the opponent by 3rd partying them when they are weak and taking their gear. It all depends man and the good players would know when to attack, and when to run away and hide. Either they know they outgear them, they know the have landscape advantages, etc...
But you are right, dropping hot all the time is going to get you way more losses then if you dropped smarter. Drop points in a BR are the most important thing. And most people do not want to be bothered.
The problem is that most gamers have short attention spans and want to fight as soon as possible no matter what. And they are selfish and don't want to play on a team. And high level streamers just want their streams to be exciting. So they drop hot and pwn noobs for followers and subscribers who also have short attention spans.
I can't tell you the amount of times I just see my teammates run towards enemies with no gear no weapons. Sometimes totally ignoring loot. Sometimes they don't even have any freaking health and they run off to the enemy like moths to a lightbulb. Yesterday a dude had no health. I was lifeline i was shouting I would heal him. He runs across the map towards the gunfire and dies. I couldn't believe it. I lost count of the amount of times I saw people run towards gun fire ignoring whole houses of loot, without a shield, Just because they wanted to be in the action.
There is nothing wrong with a BR game mode, But there is something seriously wrong with people who don't like BR game modes playing BR all the time.
I don't really have any streamers I watch...whatever's on YouTube...I say it's unfortunate because the whole loot scheme doesn't allow for a test of skill...what would be the problem with dropping with a preset load out and Max health? Rng is what ruins brs and keeps them from reaching a true competitive state. Which to answer your question earlier is why no one respects brs...
To say "I call it strategy" is a bit pointless since you could play strategically aggressive or passive...
But you are correct...most br players have transitioned from traditional tdm for games where run n gun is the dominant play style unless you come from a search n destroy style hardcore playlist...a little more strategy in those.
I would personally rather have a 10kill fast paced game finishing 6th or so than a 0 kill 2nd place or 1st place...to me it's boring
If respawn would simply implement solos and duos the squad community wouldn't have to worry about guys like myself who purely refuse to play passively. Don't get me wrong I'm not running gung ho into a mid game mosh pit with no support lvl 1 shields and no heals. But if my squad is kitted I'm tryna move into the action from either flank preferably the high side or side with more cover.
But sorry man if I get put with some straight up campers I will do 1 of 3 things...
- Leave the game
- Sit at the furthest reaches of the map and watch you tube till the storm comes in
- Starting shooting at the sky trying to get some action
And br stands for BATTLE Royale. If it had been intended to be played passive they'd have called it a HSL...HIDE AND SHOOT LATER

I'm almost positive this would eliminate the new player experience as they would get lasered by kitted 301s and r99s as soon as they landed.

Then it wouldn't be a BR. It would be a team death match and there would be no point in having a big map. Would be no point to even explore it.
In poker luck plays a part, period. NO matter how you slice it, way more so then the RNG of a BR. If you drop to an area with low tier loot, play passive till you get better loot. 3rd party a team when weak to get better loot. etc..
Solos would not solve the problem, because noobs and trolls would still be dropping on squad matches. Ranked skill matcher solves the problem.We need elo ranked, duo and solo. Pretty much no getting around it. How they are not already a thing blows my mind. Then once they completely fix the crashing issue they can add a punishment option. Maybe similar to CS:GOs where you just stack time unable to play.

As i stated earlier in POKER you decide whether to play your hand or not. If I a crap hand followed by a crap flop I'm gone. unless I DECIDE to play my luck for the turn/river/bluff opponents...should I do the equivalent of poker play in a br? Crap two guns like Mozzy/p2020 ( crap down cards in Holdem )...if my opponents push ( raise all in would be the poker equivalent) should I fight ( call in poker ) or should I quit ( fold in poker )? In poker I would fold . So I should quit the game if I get crap loot ( cards )...cool thanks for the advice...
I am also in favor of sbmm...I'm also in favor of solos/ duos as it would completely eliminate the chance of getting a high lvl troll or XP advanced teammate depending on how they choose to define "skill"... Almost every br will rank a 0 win 10kd player above a 2 kd 50% win player...sorry it's just the way it is. I could never willingly classify a end game cherry picker as more skilled than a 10kd player...the cherry picker will lose to the 10kd 99/100 provided the meet under even circumstances. The cherry picker is more efficient and makes choices better suited toward winning but he is not BETTER than the 10kd player...
But the whole reason I responded was to answer your question as to why brs get no respect . It has been and will be until the removal of rng that brs are largely dictated and influenced by luck. Just the way it is
The poker analogy is just terrible. If anything, quitting in this SQUAD ONLY game is more like quitting in a game of 3 on 3 basketball or hockey. Your teammates are just stuck at a huge disadvantage and you look like the sore loser you are. How hard is it to try for the 10 seconds you just described maybe do some damage so your teammates can finish them and revive you? You just sound like one of the short attention span players that doesn't like BRs so.. umm... why play? I HATE my teammates 90%+ of the time when solo queueing (why i am so for ranked and a solo mode) but I still TRY.
I didn't start the poker analogy and I do try...i have never left a game in a gunfight...EVER... But the other guy tried to equate the rng of brs to the luck of poker...I merely explained that the luck of poker is controllable...you can fold without being out of the game completely...in a br you are done...

The answer is because they are largely luck based...there is a reason there is no br in the top 3 for competitive gaming...it's because they are not skill based...even if it has sbmm it will NEVER be a true skill based genre...for example in fortnite if true get and cloak drop same building and tfue gets a pistol and cloak gets a pump...99.99999% of the time cloak will win...
In apex if dizzy and shroud drop side by side and shroud gets a p2020 and dizzy gets a Eva ...shroud will lose
Nobody cares about winning a br because it is luck based...
If your the only team to drop artillery and you have a Pathfinder and the final circle ends up ON TOP of the wall....guess what? You win...this has happened to me ..literally won because the other team couldn't get to circle...
This is why brs arent taken seriously...

scavenging what. you said everyone will have the same gear. if you mean just before dropping whats they difference. everyone can melee before the drop.
Dude you are still playing the game. You lose money in the pot from the ante or calling or bluffing... before folding regardless.
well if I had to choose one I would say ranked and unranked modes over solo. if they can do that too fine there is plenty players in this game.
Ad for respecting BR's. IN your case you already stated its cause playing it the way its meant to be played is too boring to you. Well i bet golf and chess are boring to you too. You've lost 1 min of time ( ante)...start the next game... Like your drop loot ( down cards ) play out the game...not hard to understand

I'm actually a pro golfer sporting a 0.2 handicap while injured for the past 5 yrs...I also am very good at chess. I play both aggressively as well...I will try to and succeed at driving any particular 4 under 350 yards from the tips as my AVERAGE drive is 335 yards with a swing speed of 127+...I don't know what a punch out is either...every shot I hit is intended to go into the hole...does it always work out? Nope...but that's how I play...
I'm sorry you don't want the truth but it IS that brs aren't respected because they are heavily luck based AND the skill gap is almost always controlled by devs to allow for the largest play audience. This is why cs:go and ttf2 and bf have smaller player bases than apex and fortnite...the shotty spam build bloom combo has turned competitive fortnite into a joke...there's 0 action until end game because its inefficient...
If youre looking for a slow play game why play brs? Why not play siege or hardcore playlist on other fps titles?
Do you really want everyone to take this mentality? It will destroy the game. If everyone played with this low risk mentality there would be 15 teams in the final circle you'd get that apex syrup start for the end game...sounds fun. Game can barely handle 5 teams in skull town let alone 10 teams in a single 20m radius.

I've never heard anyone brag about a 1 kill dub in fortnite...if I wanted to run around and collect things for 20 mins I would play a mmo or wow or some other tedious lvling crafting collecting game...the truth is there's 60 ppl who drop and my goal is to kill as many as possible...winning is a plus but I'd rather have a 10k 6th place than a 0k 2nd...

The reason BR is like poker, is because some amount of luck is involved for the win. period.

You gave your opinion I gave mine. Poker is well respected. So I disagree that BR is not because luck is involved. I never played fortnite. But your team is not getting a 1 kill win in Apex lol. This is quite the stretch. Yes looting in this game is very much like an mmorpg. SO what? That is actually fun people apparently its not fun for you. And 2nd place versus the win is a huge difference imo. Thats why I don't like PGL's pubg rules of giving points per placement. Wins should be a huge reward compared to 2nd place. They gives points for 8th place which is even crazier. I have 100's of 2nd place finishes in apex. But only a handful of wins, cause that last fight is what matters. But then again the top 3 finishes for apex esl rules make sense. Cause when watching the pro lobbies its a different ballgame. it usually comes down to 4 teams in the end and it gets super intense.Maybe you should focus more on being less aggressive at times. It doesn't serve well to be aggressive in every situation in golf or BR games or even arena shooters which are far more fast paced than either. Sounding a bit ignorant. Thats why he is demanding a solo queue. But thats no reason to ruin the matches for those going for the W and playing as a team. Thats quite selfish actually.
Agreed. Saying he shouldn't be punished for not playing as a team in a team game is selfish and childish.

Funny. Not 1 time did I comment on my play style in my post. Hard to consider that hypocritical. To point out the other person's point is that poker is similar to rng. That's respected. Different level though. Again, if you only want direct fair battles every time go play a competitive arena shooter like unreal with actual tournament rules and see how well you fair in a fast paced, even environment and stop playing BRs. Good luck, sounds like you'll need it! Something tells me you would quit even more in that environment.
I think your confusing the meaning of my words. I never said this game has to be straight up fair battles. It would be nice. It would be fun. It appears I've also misunderstood when you said this is a team game. I took this as though you were implying my style is not team play. Either way this game forces someone to compromise. Either the aggressor or the "strategist"...but a camper isn't willing to push and a pusher isnt willing to camp...so we're at a dead end... You chose not to push and lost a teammate. I chose not to camp and cost the team a player. Better to leave and q anew.
YET AGAIN...that is the answer to the original question I answered. " Why are brs not respected?" Because of rng. Plain and simple
Why would I quit in a fair play 1v1 scenario? If I get out played I get out played...gg...next game.

Any game you are not playing to WIN is wrong. And if you want to go solo in a team game thats selfish. Especially when other players on your team are playing to WIN. You constantly repeat that BR's are not a respected e-sport, which is basically saying you don't have respect for the game. SO you yourself are admitting you are not playing it the way it was intended and don't feel you should have to.
Once again, RNG is another word for luck of the draw, and Poker requires even more luck then a BR game, yet it is well respected as a professional game that still requires skill to be successful and consistent. I just use this analogy because I can't think of any other game that has more "luck" involved. You play the hand your dealt.I play to win that's why I have 20+ wins and under 50 kills on on most characters. You're cowboy way of playing just makes you a bad teammate.

And FYI wins will most likely not even be in any form a sbmm calculation. Most games base skill heavily off of kd. Truth of the matter is wins are easier to get than high kill games...

Thanks...I guess that's why my cowboy play has gotten me 100+ wins close to 2k kills and a 30% top 3 rate...and a 10% win rate...
