Rampart Buff Ideas

Concept

Rampart is a fun Legend to play but in my opinion she is the worst out of the bunch this season. She's not valuable and has the lowest win rate of all the Legends, and most of this is because none of her abilities stand out as useful. Modded Loader is almost useless with only 3 LMGS in the game (2 of which are bad, the other harder to find), Amped Walls are alright but are really easy to breach and are outclassed by a gas trap or fence, and Sheila is extremely situational.

Buffs

Modded Loader

- Now applies to sniper rifles 

- Significantly increases handling on affected guns 

- Damage dealt with an affected gun speeds up Rampart's Tactical Charge

Amped Cover 

- Health of the amped shield increased to 200

- The base is indestructible (when the shield is deployed; wall is still 1-shot when deploying)

- When destroyed, the amped shield of a wall redeploys over a period of 30 seconds 

- Rampart can have 6 walls out at any one time 

- Amped shield amplifies damage of outgoing projectiles as well (e.g. grenades + Caustic Ultimate)

- Damage amplification increased to +30%

Emplaced Minigun

- Sheila can fully rotate 

- Sheila no longer has a laser sight 

- Rampart can only have one turret out at a time, but picking it up (even if damaged or used) immediately replenishes her ultimate charge 

Indirect Buffs 

- Interception Pylons regenerate amped walls and turrets 

- Weapons affected by Modded Loader to be buffed slightly

  • I really like some of these ideas. I like how the wall replenishes like Gibraltar’s shield does. I think her turret just needs to be revamped. Maybe if it was like a cool weapon she held, or maybe if it came with its own shield it would be better but it just seems too clunky right now. Maybe if her turret could take all the damage rampart would get while on the turret then it would be better. Or they could make the turret somewhat auto in a fixed position. I played rampart a bit this season but after seeing other characters I play get more wins I realized she just wasn’t good. I play ranked a lot and found her tactical to be the best feature but it still is a gamble if it fully gets set up or not

    her walls useless it takes too long to roll out. the first one should deploy instantly, the second wall on a cool down, the third wall on a longer cool down.

  • So I enjoyed reading all of your ideas. If you go to my other more legends feedback post called ‘General ideas for legends, please reply’ I mentioned for Rampart:

    “Taller shields to more easily aim at heights, or if already on height, at further distances. Width is tight but that's okay in my opinion. Shield HP could be bulked to give a permanent Gibby vibe, although it could have a lower HP while building.” 

    That being said, I’m going to suggest a mix all the best opinions as a starting idea and y’all tell me if this is optimal and non-absurd considering the mix of ideas you all have:

    CompleatBeet: Love the idea of the base being permanent, although maybe Gibby and Bangalore ultimates and throwables could be good counters to knock them down. Although if the base is still building it should make sense that its weak, even if it might build in a shorter period of time - 30 seconds seems too long for the speed of the game.

    I agree that the guns which she has extra bullets for could also have a faster gunswitch ability, maybe even with snipers too. Don’t think more bullets should apply to snipers as its out of theme, if you do that it would seem feasible to do it to ALL the weapons. I think the damage dealt on her ultimate should affect her next ultimate cooldown, not damage with LMGs since her ultimate doesn't have a true benefit in its still position.

    Not sure about stats but I agree that the Covers’ HP should be increased and that it should slowly redeploy in case the opponent isn’t continuously paying attention. Projectile damage increase seems persistent with her tactical, honestly I thought this was already the case! I’d wait and see on damage amplification to see how the other QoL aspects affect her win rate.

    With Sheila, only thing I agree with would be that she replenishes if you pick her up, but with a 5 second wait time, and only at the same rate at which her ultimate cooldown occurs. Love the way the pylons would affect the deploy and redeploy times. Maybe this will make her tactical unusually permanent throughout the rounds.

    Naturehunter474: I agree about most of your ideas except that Sheila should be mobile. I think that because she is so dependent on her tactical, that they should be better placed if she wishes to avoid damage while on Sheila. I believe the filtered ideas of CompleatBeet on my response give the character an opportunity to be stronger.

    DefinitelyGreen: I like the idea of the first shield being built faster, although a cooldown would counter that buff. It would be useful to try out simply buffing Rampart to know where the future changes should be made in other aspects of her character.
