The points you receive are related to your hidden MMR vs. that of your enemies. In any match, the MM calculates everyone's odds of winning. In the scenario you describe, the MM thought you had a much higher chance of winning that match than your friend, so you received fewer points for the win. In this ELO sort of ranking system, when your points start to plateau, that means the MM thinks you are in about the correct rank.
All this is just to explain a bit how things are supposed to work. From all I hear daily, it sounds like the arena points and matchmaking are not doing very well. Sorry for your frustration.
I could see that being an issue at higher levels but I'm only at bronze 3 and so is my friend. I guess the game just wants me to stay in bronze all season.

@vinnygolfer Sorry again for your frustration. I've avoided ranked arena altogether. Here;s some hope, though. The MM does want you to climb some, or else you'd only be earning 12 points for a win. The way this type of ranking system works, once you are at your correct rank, the only way to climb significantly is to get objectively better at the game. But, again, I'm not entirely convinced that this system is working well here.
- Eshshshss5 years agoSeasoned Ace@pandareno1999 that's bs as while not improving my game stats - kills per game, damage per game, etc. as well as not changing rank - currently in the middle of Gold 1 - I suddenly yesterday started to make 22-24 points for the win while before it was just 12.
And as said before neither changed my performance nor enemies - still facing pretty much random level enemies. And here you go out of the blue I start making more RP :D
Based on your feedback only sensible explanation would be that the whole community's skill just suddenly dropped and the game "feels" like I should be in Plat after all :D
