Re: Abandoneers, suggestion to combat them, and then a rant of my opinion
@Balladalidila Compared to my brother, who I play 90% of my games with, I'm suicidal. Compared to 90% of the third person we are put with, they are the suicidal one and leaves us stranded behind them.
I tend to play NewCastle for the shielded revives, but reviving is usually pointless without the Golden Knockdown Shield for the greater HP on the downed ally you revive.
As for that Crypto thing, I've done that. My ally loved me for it, or at least for the attempts. I respawned him 5 times because he kept getting spawn killed. We made second place because I couldn't reach the final beacon, and got shot trying to get close enough to use my drone on it.
Normally I can respawn my mates and we go on to fight together later, not get instantly wasted mid fall and have to be re-respawned.
I'm a terrible shot, to I try to keep my allies allive. When I'm Crypto, that means drone traps and respawn master. When I got him I was able to revive using the drone, while in drone view, but they've since disabled that feature. I don't know why. Maybe because people keep complaining that Crypto players keep avoiding getting butchered while trying to support their 1000 times better allies.
Though, recently, I clutched a trios win during this event. Solo vs 2 trios. Though it was more like I third partied him, but he still had more armor than I did.
The kicker: I went around a pillar to reload my Havoc, and was at 10 HP. He still had 50+.
I exit the other side while opening fire, and he opened fire too.
My shots hit, none of his hit me.
I honestly thought I lost, but he dropped and not me.
I screamed in shock and joy.
I couldn't bring my mates back, but what a game.
Well, there was a replicator on the other side of the ring, in the middle of enemies, and the tier 4 ring was a few seconds before closing it, I could have tried to use that, but there wasn't even a beacon in the ring if I had managed to do that.
My brother stuck with me to the end, but our third left in 5th place, so he didn't get the win credit like we did.
If only he knew, they that would be punishment itself, the knowledge he could have had another win under his belt had he stayed with his mates even though there was no hope of returning to the field. I'd be infuriated with myself if I left and they won without me.
But still, that's not the intended target. Though he did abandon, I looked at the map and there was no way I could bring him back, so I decided not to report him.
The issue people are those who leave while downed, especially when you are obviously on your way to revive them, or have begun reviving them.
When you are heading for their banner, but they leave as you reach, and you end up getting killed going after someone who didn't have the courtesy to tell you they don't want to be brought back, or that the foes are camping their corpse. Though half of that one is they wait until you are there and then they leave, sometimes you did grab their banner and other times you were two feet from it and were literally about to grab it. Then you go to escape and whether or not you escaped your mate left game, cutting your chances of winning by 33/50%. Some of these I also report as saboteurs.
One fight doesn't mean I'm useless, it means I pick my battles, and early fights only get you killed. So I wait, and if I deem it a battle we can win, I will aid, but if I deem it as too much, I will abandon you and wait until either you best them, you escape them (is what normally happens), or you die and I bring you back.
When I'm obviously going to bring someone back and they leave anyways, that's who I have a problem with, that's who I'd love to lock out until my game is finished.
If there is no way for me to bring you back, then fine you can leave, though I'd prefer you stick around in case I clutch a win, though unlikely.
But if it's early, there's obviously a way to bring you back, and I will do my best to bring you back. If you quit when I'm bringing you back, that's what I have a problem with.
I will aid in fights where I can, mostly as a sniper, because my CQ tends to not do so hot, and in CQ I try to keep the good ones alive. That or I run and either split the enemies into chasing me down while my ally picks them off, or go somewhere where I can bring my allies back.
As NewCastle however, I stay with my allies and tend to be first downed, but otherwise I'm constantly reviving my allies. Give me Golden KDS and we win most fights.
As for my quitting status, I will stick with my team even when my timer is up, because you never know if they will clutch a win without you. As long as you spectate your team, you will get credit for their placement. If they win and you were permanently lost at 15th, you will get win credit.
Though I tend to play support, so even when it's timed out they can still bring me back, through crafting.
Also, If you are downed and an ally is dead and I'm constantly pinging the crafter, drop your KDS so I can craft both of you in one go. Don't abandon me if I'm waiting for the double craft. I will bring you back.
And I went on a rant again. Maybe multiple times.
