I highly doubt that. What would they do? Press Mouse 1 five times on a press. I mean. It doesn't really give you any advantage. Not really.
It's also so unreliable.
What cheats would they honestly do in Apex?
Starcraft, and the like, I would maybe be able to believe. But why not use C to code the cheat if you're gonna cheat?
@zuperkamelenNo sir thoose scripts don’t just press mouse1 five times, they can do a lot more. I don’t wanna get into deep detail here, but ahk is a wide spread software used to cheat in a lot of games.
i lean out of the window now and trust that you really need it for work and it sucks for you, but a program like this cannot be allowed every program that can be used for any kind of automation needs to get removed
Then my issue become that you can run a python script for automation, or a C written program, an exe, or possibly even through a .bat file. I mean. Just banning everything running ending with '.ahk.' is ridicolous. It's all about what the script is, and they could collect the script itself to scan it for malicious intent.
I still would like to know how much one would potentially succeed to automatable, because with the knowledge I have I am still sceptical that you can do anything complicated reliably. In my experience it is not reliable at all with tasks more complicated than just typing out '/u/'. Even this fails sometimes if you do it quick enough.

Hey @zuperkamelen,
Sorry this has had a negative effect for you.
Though others have discussed some potential issues already, this would not be the place to expand on how AHK (or any other software for that matter) could be used to automate behavior.
While it's great that you don't run in the circles that may use similar programs for less-than-legitimate purposes, those circles do unfortunately exist. There certainly isn't a one-stop solution to cheating, but we're constantly adapting and approaching the issue from multiple angles. Feel free to check this out for a bit more information, if you haven't already seen the article.
Thanks for the discussion and feedback, all!

Why block software when people aren't using it to cheat? This is just laziness on the developers. There are plenty of actual cheat menus that exist and work to this day without detection that people are actually using to cheat. Blocking things like DS4 that allow players to customize their layout of their controller and allow them to have higher sensitivity than allowed with in game settings (simply by multiplying input levels) is doing NOTHING to stop cheaters. This is just horrible practice I decided to play Apex after awhile of not playing it due to all the cheating going on.
Noticed that I can no longer use DS4 Windows. Discovered in other posts this was to prevent cheating.
I have no idea how this software can be used for cheating. It simply emulates an XBOX 360 controller and allows for custom keybinding and sensitivity curves.
I cannot stand how slow the controller inputs are in any of the FPS games I play, so I use DS4 windows to amplify them.
Without this, I can't even turn around to shoot someone behind me in apex before they absolutely melt me, it is physically impossible for me to turn around fast enough since my settings are already maxed out and I have the joystick fully pushed in that direction.
Mouse and keyboard players have "legit" software from their mouse and keyboard companies that allow for all sorts of things - macros (literal key recordings that allow for more than human input), scripts - allows players to have pre-recorded inputs to remove recoil from guns, basically infinite sensitivity adjustments.
The statement made by Respawn on X is completely false: "blocks programs that give players an unfair competitive advantage". DS4 Windows is a program that gives controller players a FAIR advantage.
There are other ways to detect and ban cheaters, blocking software is not one of them.
I think a solution moving forward would be to allow DS4 Windows to run, or enable the same customization levels in game that DS4 also provides. This game is unplayable with the current settings. ALC was a great step. Now lets take it further

Simply put, because certain people are using it for that purpose. While other avenues may also exist, this isn't an either/or situation where taking action in one area means nothing is being done in other areas.
This issue is one we're continuing to work to address from multiple angles. Do feel free to check through the above link for our latest update on the matter and thanks for the continued feedback, all.

Then give us support for our controllers. I paid premium for a dualsense edge because I have nerve damage and need the back buttons. Can't use it in none of your games on PC without a "3rd party app". All of your answers on the forums are useless because you provide no solution to people with disabilities that can't use their controllers now. - E9ine_AC2 years agoHero+@WatchMeShine Sorry to hear about your issues, I know all disabilities can differ from one another. I do have friends though who use blow tubes to play the game due to having no hands or arms 1 of them has them but unable to use them.
The issue really boils down to people used them for bad things. Despite the good they bring to people bad folks ruin good things. AHK, among all the others in the hackers word typically is going to be doing things it should not though. Most programmers don't run ahk files on startup let alone after start up unless working on a specific thing. When we do have stuff we have to run things like that for we use our working machine and not our gaming machine. Stuff like that for any game can flag systems therefore most use different computers one with their scripts for work and one they game with.
I assume though if someone is truly running ahk and stuff like it 90% of the time its up to no good. That's just me though but other games and companies also agree they are used for bad far more than the good.
Im sure there may be something out there that can fill that gap that would be allowed. Foot pedals, Blow tubes, among thousands of other options.
