The more I play ranked this season the more I realize how broken this new system is. I have been in Diamond every single season (except one season of Pred early on) and the Platinum lobbies I am in now are far harder than all of the lobbies I have been in during previous seasons.
Why? This new system makes it more difficult to gain positive RP and it takes more RP per rank to climb. This means more people who are higher skill are taking far longer to climb out of the lower ranks to get to the rank they should be in. Getting 7th place with 2 kills and a participation point will still net you negative points in Plat 4. That is simply ridiculous.
They should either decrease the entry cost across the board or, if they want to continue focus on placements, just increase the amount of RP for placement across the board.
Yeah but I think that is a separate issue. I also noticed that it seem to be MORE high rank and high dmg badge players in silver/gold lobbies that dont seem to be smurfs but legit main accounts. This might be because of the slower climb and that many ex-hardstuck diamond4s now struggle to solo their way through plat and therefore are in no rush to get out of Gold lobbies that seemingly are shared with silver and even some bronze players.
Or maybe thats a deliberate part of the reform. Lets take gold lobbies as an example. A good rank system must allow a "gold skilled player" to remain in gold rank games indefinitely unless he improves and becomes better than an average gold player.. But to achieve this, they cant have only gold players fighting other gold players, because if we think logically, there will then be a continuous outflow of gold players, promoted to platinum, assumingly the current best gold players. So what this means is ofc that it will become easier and easier to reach Platinum from Gold as the split goes on. To forcing Gold players to have like 20% of low plats in their lobbies will force players to actually prove that deserve to play in Platinum if they want to be promoted.
