Re: Fix this garbage audio, we ask it from season 3!!

@Wytcha

February (Don't know which year), @Kateh8sapex posted this:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Feedback/Octane-Audio-Broken/m-p/10077364/highlight/true#M73239

In May, 2021, I posted this:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Feedback/Octane-Audio/m-p/10324134/highlight/true#M79587

That got pretty much ignored, so in July 2021:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Feedback/Still-Can-t-Hear-Octane/m-p/10478805/highlight/true#M83254

From what I've observed, they rather release reskins and event items, rather than fix some of the issues. Then when they do go and fix an issue, its one of the things that aren't even "game breaking" or a problem.

They said they fixed audio countless of times, but its still broken in one way or another.

    Hey look it's me!

And yeah audio is still completely busted. Octane still makes no noise while jumping. Constant audio bugs. Inconsistent footstep sounds. I could make a whole grocery list of terrible audio. The devs just don't care.

@Kateh8sapex Oh hey, look, it is you!

Yeah, footsteps are very inconsistant. Sometimes it sounds like someone is there, but there isn't anyone, other times it there's no sound and then its a full squad.

You can hear the trident from 3 named map locations away, you can hear gunfire 200+ meters away, and it doesn't make much sense.

When it comes to audio very rarely do I ever have issues with it in terms of hearing things. Not sure if it is people's headsets (I am sure a lot will spout out I paid 200+ for mine they are good) I would have to disagree. You paid for a logo not quality IMO. I use the HyperX Cloud headphones and I am able to hear when people are coming from a distance hear people looting below and above or beside. Friends often ask if I have wall hacks because I hear people in buildings they can not. They bragged I paid 200+ for mine one of the best on the market. All I can ask them is why can't you hear then? =P Not at all saying people's headphones are bad or anything or not what they paid for im saying the quality between them is what makes the difference. My friends who recently swapped to Hyperx can now hear things like I did.

    @E9ine_AC

I am so sick and tired of this logic.

"oh I never have audio issues so that means you all are just complaining."

NO. The game has major audio issues you are just lucky. I have a brand new turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2.

I don't understand why everyone is so easy to write off people who say they have audio issues.

And not everyone can afford a $200 headset. I shouldn't have to have a super expensive headset to hear well.

Then if my headset is so bad how do you explain the fact that I can clearly hear everything and its direction in literally every other game I play.

Ok maybe the headset does make a difference. Then what is your excuse for audio bugs???

If someone is killed in a corner, there is a constant insanely loud whooosh sound. Like someone falling. And for about three seasons straight, me and five other friends all heard a loud beeping sound that would randomly start in any matches and persist randomly through it. Once we dashboard and close the game it stops.

So in the end, you are telling me, EVERY single person who has audio issues is because they have a bad headset? That is ridiculous. I don't understand why you feel the need to defend a multi-billion dollar game studio so hard. It's like you can handle a single negative word said about the game.

@Kateh8sapex I am not saying there are not issues as I stated I do hear them myself its just not as often as some people do. I am more speaking on terms of hearing enemies come up behind you or beside you. I hear the whoosh from time to time but is it game impacting for me? I will say no. It does make me more alert to think someone has most certainly dropped on me but other than that it does not effect my game-play.

@Midnight9746 They really need to fix the audio problem
I remember a game that I played in olympus, somehow I am located in the Bonsai Plaza (the south part of the map) and I heard the announcer from the path's arena for no reasons. I had opened game's subtitle and it really showed the line of that (something like : A new challenger has approached...) . Just what, I was in the other side of the map. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
*I am sorry that I didn't capture a photo for this so I can't show you any evidence for this.

@E9ine_AC Most major streams all agree the audio is bad and non existent. I get that in your experience you don't have any issues but that doesn't account for the majority of players. It's not headsets that are a problem and that's a very poor argument/solution to bring up.

@chiefthunderball I 100% can agree with this. Some big streamers do claim no audio a lot of times it's when they mess up and want to blame the game for their mistakes. I can hear them on stream how can they not hear them while playing? If I can hear footsteps on someone's stream when they could not what would this indicate? My sound tuning is far superior than they have. I have spent a lot of time perfecting my audio to perform the best it can inside apex. Which im sure they just plug in their device and go about playing. Just because someone has dropped 200 bucks on a set of headphones does not make them good. There is more to it than just inserting a headet and expecting it to work good. There are programs most motherboards and such come with to deal with audio. If they do not tune these then they will have poor hearing abilities.

BTW I do agree there are audio issues inside the game. But some can be diverted by simply adjusting sound settings to be more clear.

    Headphones I use: HyperX Cloud

    PC volume is 100%

Game volume is 100% ( a lot set this at 50 and expect to hear things )

SupremeFX is 100% stereo, Performance Mode,

The format is at 24 bits, 48000 Hz Studio Quality

Sonic Studio basic mode 100% volume Advanced mode 100% volume application manager none. Sonic studio Effects none.

With these settings, I do not have a lot of the audio issues others do. I will note Hyper X is also the best headset I have ever owned in terms of quality and abilities. Also do not break the bank. They actually work and allow me to hear things, unlike these 200 dollar headsets I have tried and do own.

@Xx__Miku831__xXCan confirm that I heard the announcer from Fight Night when I wasn't anywhere close to Fight Night.

@E9ine_AC I'm someone who uses a decent headset, I can hear things just fine, and more than some other players with different headsets.

However, a headset shouldn't be what's giving a player the edge. All players should hear the same thing regaurdless of headset.

And even though I have a decent headset - that doesn't make up for any audio issues the game has. My headset only enchances the existing sounds to be more surround sound. If the sound isn't playing - its not being enhanced or even heard at all.

Octane can run at me and I can see the character stim effects, but cannot hear him most of the time. Since he's not giving off a sound effect - I can't even hear him, even if its somehow being enhanced.

@E9ine_AC I also do not have much issues. I can hear footsteps just fine. My headset? Oh don't ask. Its an earphone set, or whatever, that I used to plug in my old iPod 4. Its not even a headset at this point. Is it? I don't know.

Hyper X Cloud Alpha S, and I can't hear a single sh*t starting from zipline takes, ending with somebody literally jumping or running towards me.

@E9ine_AC You are literally a single person out of thousands and thousands that experience issues. What do you think is more likely, that everyone is a cry baby who blames no audio to cover up their mess ups? Or that you have a superiority complex and can't grasp the fact that just because you don't experience it doesn't mean it's not there? No need to reply to me as I won't continue replying to anything you have to say since I don't value your input in the slightest bit. Thanks!

After one of the last patches, I am hearing Octane more often, however overall audio seems to have gotten quieter. Things like healing and holding a knockdown shield out isn't as loud as it used to be. No idea what's even going on here.
