"You are asking for native support on console, yet your posts after that would be about aim assist"
I play with the device I want, when I want. It's very simple. So this is why it's confusing to you I guess. You have to understand I use both devices without any bias towards one or the other. I understand how both work just fine. Controllers are OP with aim assist (my opinion). As long as they have an assisted software aiming for them, Their OP. With that, they should never be allowed to get this aim assist on people who don't have access to it. So yes, I want mouse & keyboard support, but I want servers just for them. No controllers and no pc players can use this server, Just console mouse & keyboard players.
Why not play on PC you may ask? Too many cheaters, It's that simple. It's not the mouse people using scripts i'm worried about, it's the aim lock wall hacks. I was reporting something like 20 cheaters a night with full video of each person at 2560 x 1440, 60 FPS. It gets really old watching, recording and editing just to game. So I gave up on Apex Legends PC.
AIM ASSIST
Please stop saying people need it, THEY DO NOT. Do you think if you keep saying it, people won't question it's use in video games? It's like motion blur, aim assist, FOV slider (field of view), lens flare, Devs keep adding aim assist because that's how it was done, not because it's needed. Most devs don't play video games. It's just a job. Even though I use a controller off and on, I hate it when companies have huge amounts of it, Why? If one it's a FPS, means most will never miss, That means I'll get shot a lot without most needing skills. In turn it makes people camp more.
If the title in question has fine advanced controls for the user, like - DEADZONE, AA, CURVE, SES,ADS SES, SCOPE SES, one doesn't need aim assist. Now with game companies like COD, Halo, Destiny, Gears,Battlefield etc, they do not make it easy for the end user to use a controller without aim assist, why? Because they have limited control settings.
I'm not saying simply disable aim assist and life is good. I'm saying controls should be set up for each end user for how they like them with fine settings in each game. Console players should ask more for their games. If you keep letting the companies run everything, they will never help you in the long run, they just want you to keep thinking you're good at what you're doing as long as you keep paying...
If you could just turn off aim assist in Apex you would see what I'm talking about, but there are a couple of issues here. If you turn off aim assist in Apex everyone (mostly) will still have it on. Trying to learn while everyone has a good aim is not recommended. Second issue is Apex Legends only allows aim assist to be disabled from the advanced menu.
So when you turn on Advanced controls, your controls get all messed up by doing so. If Apex Legends had a place for you to game without aim assist you would start to notice, it's not needed in video games, I'm just being honest.
There is yet another issue with this topic and that's the analog devices themself. These 40c parts are so poor, that no one has ever thought to improve them. Why? Microsoft and Sony make a ton selling new controllers to users every 6 months. This is the reason why so many games add deadzone control now. Some call it stick drift. If a mouse would fail after 6 months, the community would be up in arms and posting to Linus tech tips and they would be fixed in the matter of months. Meanwhile consoles keep buying into new controllers like they're getting something really new. Controller analog sticks have been the same for almost 25 years!
There is a side topic "bullet magnetism" that just moves your aimed shot to the target if it's close. Apex doesn't have it, but Halo, Destiny and COD do. If you thought aim assist was broken, just go look at how this. If you thought you had good aim in Halo and /or Destiny, this might hurt your ego.
So, why do companies keep adding this? In the video game industry, it's called dopamine kicks. If they reward the common user, they are more likely to purchase your product over and over. Being Apex Legends run off the F2P model, they need cash. They do not care if you personally like or hate aim assist just as long as you come back and spend money on their product.
I've said it before, consoles are coddled. Most players on FPSs on consoles could be 20s to 30s, that doesn't mean developers treat them like one. You, as a console user, should start asking for more.
