Re: Rude Devs - I'm uninstalling Apex and Origin

@EnxoruYes the devs are employees, what difference does that make? Employees/employer, they can speak however they want. I wasn’t talking about ‘will this attitude get someone fired or not’. I’m just talking about them being humans so allowed to talk any way they want. The consequence is for them to bare. If I’m working years on something which essentially is ‘my work baby’ and someone’s being disrespectful towards it or saying that I’m a liar or anything, you think I’d let that slide. I don’t know how you are as a human being (not judging) but my pride will be offended and I’ll retaliate.

It’s the same as any other ‘artist’. Musicians, actors, graphical illustrators etc. Complain about their work, fine, complaining’s good. Downright insulting it or them and they’ll speak up. I’m not even a celebrity person follower and even I’ve seen it and where they fired? Nope.

If you are that sensitive towards such comments, just don’t get offended by it. You a freeloader, an arsehat or whatever they said more?

LOLZ you think that cause this dev/these ppl talked back in a way people don’t like that the business (Respawn) will fail, cause that’s basically what your insinuating, then you couldn’t be more wrong. I’d wager that even if Respawn chose to stick by this dev that they’d still be operating ‘like normal’.

You’re right about losing credibility to a degree... even tho this is your opinion. But many times it’s either that the replier knows what the OP said/doesn’t wanna know. I already knew what you’d gonna say, cause after I posted my reply I read your full thing and was like ‘yup, justified’.

@Koochi-Q I would just like to point out that while I agree with it , when you said humans being allowed to talk however they want. Just remember thats here in the U.S thanks to the beautiful thing called the 1st amendment. Other countries dont see it that way and you can be arrested or in some places killed for the words that you say.
People in this country seem to take our constitution for granted and think its like that everywhere. People need to remember these things when they think its soooo bad here.

Not related to Apex at all just wanted to put that out there.

"People in this country seem to take our constitution for granted"

No doubt...severely..it's really unfortunate how our future leaders are coming to be.

@cobrakev98 I understand that and I agree with it. But unless we’re talking about severely dictatorshipped countries, what these devs said isn’t punishable.

I don’t live in the US but I’ve never heard of a supplier of things getting reprimanded with jailtime just because he said some vulgar words about part of it’s customerbase.

The dev(s) of course didn’t specify which part he was talking bout, so he generalized. The way I feel it, that was not the best way to convey his inner frustration, BUT if he said ‘part of our community are arsehats/synonym for ‘male genetalia’ and whatever else he said, it would’ve been even worse because then most ppl wouldn’t know which part of the community he refers to if they only heard it from someone else. Now, by generalizing, everyone who feels they might be the target of the offense will feel bumhurt, but that’s on them.

@jumanjaydazed future leaders = foreign overlords lol. Right now its just a waiting game . To wait out the 30 - 50 year olds , until they can no longer efficiently defend. Then this country will be an open door.

You can say whatever you want as a human being? Well, sure, insomuch as you can do whatever you want. But there are rules, laws, policies, etc. that establish restrictions to speech and action on pain of punishment.

Guy shouldn’t have said those things. Period. You can bet every dollar you have that he broke policies agreed to as terms of his employment. He was in a place of business, getting paid to represent a company. The community isn’t.

That being said, people make mistakes and forgiveness is the way. All things considered, in my opinion the words used weren’t excessively egregious and I don’t mind that Respawn is supporting him. But that’s just my opinion.

There is certainly a shortcoming of respect in the nature of online forum communications as a whole. I’d say that’s a fact, not an opinion.

Guy made a mistake...  We’ve all read the exchange. It’s apparent he got frustrated and vented. He shouldn’t have, but whatever. Outrage is an increasingly growing bandwagon these days. This is overblown.

@Koochi-Q Its not the same actually and you have contractual obligations when you sign onto a company like this. I know this because I work in the industry. I have no doubt this dude will be fired. Trust me you can't talk like this to your community on behalf of a company. I would absolutely love to give people a piece of my mind but I value my job. In comparison the people I deal with are 100 times worse but guess what? I don't start cursing at them and getting defensive because thats not how you handle a community. I listen and forward feedback to devs and tell them why its important and needs to be prioritized. To add to this I was talking about this today at work and this guy used to work with a mutual friend of mine actually and apparently he's a total * IRL too. I won't be surprised when he's fired.

@EnxoruEvery employee has contractual obligations. But please show me where this dev was speaking for Respawn or EA as a whole. He never even made a reference towards either company. He just stated his mind AND the community manager backed him up out of his own accord and even he wasn’t speaking for the company. You don’t have to work in the gaming industry to be held accountable for sush blemishes. Any company dealing with outside customers ‘directly’ has roughly the same rules.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he got fired either. Hell, I expect that he has already cleared his desk by now, but I commend the guy for speaking his mind.

@littleelvis17 exactly. I’m assuming at least 30% of those guys only came on the hate bandwagon either to just be internet savages/* who want to follow the masses or cause they heard devs calling the community d1cks and such. They have either not seen the actual posts which isn’t actually calling people names but passively stating that some ppl are and/nor the namecalling which sparked devs to speak up.

@EA_Blueberry The conversation is about your devs... Who make the game and trash talk your customers while using their official Respawn Dev tags. Also it's funny that your forums censor the words that your devs said uncensored on reddit to the community...

@Koochi-Q Replying from your official Respawn Dev account is on behalf of the company. I deal with way worse and I actually keep my composure because I talk as a member of a company. So from my perspective this person can't handle their job. This is unacceptable at at least 3 of the major tech companies I've been employed by. I cannot defend this person, it's wrong to do and they lost my business because of it. End of story.

@Enxoru I disagree. If it was the official community relationship/customer service account then I’d be inclined to say that it conveys the message from the company. This is an account from one dev. Yes, affiliated with Respawn but nowhere near speaking for the company even if he uses his company’s account. But that’s just my take on it.

Lolz you keep mentioning your employment while nobody asks for it. We get it, you’re working in the business and you don’t agree with this person. No reason to bring your employment in the mix. I really don’t care about it, and I’d be surprised if someone else on this forum is. You bring solid points, that’s the only thing I care about. Well hope your business will be appreciated somewhere else, Respawn has millions more where that came from.
