Re: Turn off SBMM please!!

@Sir_Named It's weird how everyone thinks SBMM is a bad thing, who started this rumour anyway? Hell no do I want to get randomly match-made with platinum or predator players.

@Godisbullen There was ALWAYS sbmm in the game (dev's even said so). The "before" was when it hadn't registered everyones skill level. Hard to do anything about smurfs, especially during pandemic atm.

The big change needed, and respawn acknowledged this, is they need to look at pre-made squad skill since they don't really examine that too much when matchmaking people. 8/10 times a premade has good vibe over a bunch of randoms. Had a few exceptions and added those people I did well with / made friendly with. Sometimes without a mic even.

@MonhulioEven if the feature was already in the game since launch, it's just as you said, it wasn't calibrated yet during s01. There's no denying that this game was much more casual and fun before the feature got ramped up. They've introduced a ranked mode since then, the sbmm is not needed for casual play, and without it, smurfs (at least for normal games) wouldn't be an issue.

@Godisbullen I still don't think you understand so I will reiterate.
When everyone first started the game, many people were of the same skill level, and the semi skilled were matched with the unskilled.

At that point in time, players that were good enough to be predator and diamond class were still learning the game but were still skilled. Now, a year later, those skilled players are tired of being matchmade into their own lobbies, and are smurfing.

Turning off SBMM in unranked games just means that the platinum and predator players get matched with everyone else in EVERY SINGLE GAME. New players would be mixed with everyone from predator, to bronze ranked players.

Meaning new players and low skill players would be playing with predators. The game was more "fun and casual" because there WAS no ranked for anyone to get sweaty in.

What you are asking wouldn't actually make the game more fun, nor solve ANY issues whatsoever. Predators wouldn't need smurf accounts, however that doesn't guarantee they wouldn't just use them anyway for "fun". It also wouldn't fix predators being matchmade with new players.

The platinum and predator players would still have to play with "someone", removing sbmm on unranked would just give them less skilled or sweaty people to play with. New players that just want to learn the game would go up against flying pathfinders, dodgy wraiths, and every other hungry more skilled legend player under the sun.

Smurf accounts would still exist because some people would just think its hilarious to screw with everyone else by getting owned by a low level. Predators could play with anyone and dominate and most players wouldn't be able to beat their "casual play". Predators would have to intentionally lose or play crappy so every other legend can have their day on the podium.

If this seems repetitious, its because I really don't think you have registered whats being said (not trying to be rude mind you).

Players don't often think about this but "What would be the cause and effect of what I am asking? What would happen as a result of my request? What are all the things that would change?"

Smurfs wouldn't disappear (it would just be a way for skilled players to derp others, sad but true), other skilled plats and preds would just use their main and match with new, learning, or lower skilled players, everyone would match with everyone. It's far FAR more likely that the majority would, in fact, NOT enjoy this.

The only reason people had more fun season 1, is because the game was new, no one quite knew all there was or how to play, and players were still being gradually grouped by skill. Now that the skill bar has been established, throwing low skill players to high skill wolves is a bad idea.

Bunny hopping, directional slide changing, wall hopping, proper strafing, and any and all other high skilled movements in the game are skills most if not all high skilled players may have learned. Think about all a skilled player knows being pitted against all an lower skilled players ignorance or inability to perform.

No. It would not fix anything. It is far more likely to make the majority of the playerbases matches hell or extremely frustrating. Smurfs would exist no matter what, and the same issue but in some respects worse would be happening.

@Monhulio I'm not talking about the ranked scene, I'm talking about the casual matches. Ranked should still be working as of now, since sbmm is more or less the whole point of a ranked game.
Also, I didn't say that smurfs would disappear from the game, just that, at least in casual games, it would be unnecessary and obsolete, since you'll be match randomly anyway.
And because the average players outnumber the high-skilled with 10 to 1, there would still be lots of possibilities for new players to enter the scene.
Currently, the amount of smurfs and badly executed sbmm implementation leads to a constant battle which no room for casual gaming, so by removing it, you would, in the worst case scenario, have the same output - ergo, we've got nothing to loose and everything to gain.

@GodisbullenWe ARE talking about casual matches. You did actually say it would solve the smurf issue in normal games.

Not sure you read the brick but long story short:
No one wants to play duck hunt in Unranked / casual matches.
    Except the people smurfing anyway.

@MonhulioYeah I did read your post, but I guess you didn't read mine since I said it would SOLVE THE ISSUE, not that they'd disappear. Smurfing would probably still be a thing, but it would be a non-issue and occur on a smaller scale.

Non SBMM would result in a varied match, which probably mostly would consist of averaged-skilled players, but you'll encounter both newer and more skilled payers.

@GodisbullenI am a level 500 preditor. Unless myself is Champion Squad then every single match i enter are level 100 or below players with well over 300 kills on their little itty bitty character. It is very rare these days to see legit players in our range on these banners. I play pre made almost all the time and we all are 500 being placed with very very low level players. We need our own lobbies for this to work properly.

    Level 1-100 their own lobbies
    Level 101-200 their own lobies
    Level 201-300 their own lobies
    Level 301-400 their own lobies
    Level 401-500 thieir own lobies

I do not even care if you was to follow the mmo type games where when you group with high level it tells you that you are too low to gain experience with this player. Yea reject play from being hit so no high levels can invite their low level smurf friends. If them fools wanna play with smurfs they can create a smurf and stay in their bracket range to feel as if they are actually good.

This 100% fixes the smurfing issue for all. Let them play with each other only till they climb to our ranks.

@E9ine_ACI agree with you about separating the lobbies and preventing high-skilled to be matched with new players, but not entirely by their level. There should be a few more parameters taking in to account, but I guess you just made a quick example, in which case I totally agree.
