Recoil in general, do we need it at all?

Why all those games have recoil patterns at all? To simulate a gun, to not be as easy to control it. For games to not become boring fast, I really don't know exactly.

I can remember a time where there wasn't any recoil, or at least just a vertical one. Bullet drop yes but not some silly patterns (to simulate something), or recoil at all.

Nowadays I am just asking myself, where is the point, if you can use Aim Assist, cheats, or hardware against it?

I mean having it, makes the game harder for the majority and you also have a kind of handicap, cause you always have not only to fight against your foes, but also against the recoil, in comparison to players with cheats and Aim Assists.

So taking it out, would just make equal chances for everyone. Well at least fairer chances imho.

Because, I for example, I am not going to find and try any cheat codes, buy new hardware for this kind of purpose.

Man, I just wanna come home, install a game and play some hours. Don't wanna study it from 0-100% and get a Dr. Title for it.

Agreed. I have enough degrees. I don't need another in a video game. And yet... here we are.

Your point about cheaters is spot on. If the dev uses recoil and I encounter a player with near-perfect accuracy, I'm not saying to myself, "Wow, that guy's good." I'm saying to myself, "Wow, how is this guy not banned yet?" On the other hand, anti-recoil is just one form of cheat amongst many. Getting rid of recoil won't stop the aimbotters or the wall hackers or whatever else it is people will do to win these days.
  • @reconzero i know what you mean, and I also know there are going to be other cheats, but at least its not about the recoil and aim assist anymore, and all these debates about it will disappear.
I have the feeling that the cheats and everything else about aiming is regarding all of us.
Thats why I would start with it.

Yes, getting rid of recoil isn't going to stop the cheaters, but if we didn't have recoil on any weapons, it would certainly make it a lot easier to fight against someone, that uses no recoil already, at least the playing field for this would be leveled.

Its satysfying when you learn to use it.
You just have to hit that firing range for hour or two, depends on gun.
Even Devotion can be controlled pretty good.

Yeah there is downside of scripts and stuff, but if you just learn recoil then you dont have to worry about getting banned and it also feels better when you one clip someone long range with AR.

I think Apex recoil should stay like this.
