RP Changes Opinion and Suggestion

I think that many of the changes in the ranked system are good and were necessary. However, overall these changes have been net negative. Right now, the system is promoting playing like a rat and hiding till the end, completely eliminating the fun of apex's fast paced action.

Here are the positive changes:

Assist timer increase

Kill Cap removal

Demotion - there was too high of player in the 4th tier of a rank (especially gold/plat/diamond) who were stuck at 0RP.

100RP Tier promotion bonus - works well in combination with demotion

Entry cost adjustments - division 4 should not be the same as division 1 of a rank, this will help the distribution be more reflective of skill

Intro Tier

Here are the negative changes:

Base value of kills worth increasing less - 100% to 80% is fine, dropping down to 20% is wayyy to low

RP Thresholds - With the addition of demotions and increased entry costs in divisions this is unnecessary imo

Kill RP Values - kills being worth 1 point pre 14 is absolutely ridiculous. A player who gets 2 squad wipes (6 k/a) and dies pre 14 should not be only getting 6 points from those kills. 

My suggested changes:

Kill RP Values - Change the KP to a minimum of 5 (from 20th place to 11th).

Base value of kills worth increasing less - 100% for first 3 kills, 80% next 3 kills, 50% for all additional kills.

Keep everything else as is.

The current system also promotes smurfing, as smurfs who kill 4 teams (12 k/a) and come in 9th, aren't climbing nearly as fast as they should. These proposed changes will make players who are getting many kills to climb faster, without making the entire game about kills, and still valuing placement for non smurf players.

These changes have also led to a terrible distribution between the ranks. Currently silver and gold lobby's are full of ex-plat/diamond players struggling to climb while plat+ divisions are basically empty. By giving slightly more value to kills, this is going to help these diamond/plat players move up, while keeping all the other changes, you are still rewarding team play and placement, which was the goal of the system change.

Based on most of the other posts on here concerning the RP update I see 2 types of people:

Players who were concerned that to many people were over placed and above there skill level (like the changes)

Players who feel like these changes are killing the fun of the game by promoting placement too much and making climbing too hard (do not like the changes)

I think both opinions are valid, and that my proposal offers solutions to both concerns.

  • I think your graphs are real, I just made it solo queue into Platinum where matches are from 99% made by S12 Masters (The whole sky while dropping is purple). Mathcmaking time is noticeably longer and I cant wait to go back to Gold because this is just way too hard without pre-made team and probably wouldnt be fun even with team anyway. My random teammates were also avoiding fights in last 3 games as much as possible. Not fun for me.

    Im really missing S12 Diamond where ptretty much all players were equally skilled and playing with random teams wasnt bad at all while taking fights was rewarding and worth it for grinders too.

    This S13 Plat isnt really fun for me while Gold is often too easy now when all S12 Master players got into Plat.

    This ranking system really isnt as good as S12 system was. S12 was perfectly ballanced. Here is a huge gap between Gold and Plat with nothing above Plat.

    Just revert back to S12 please.
