I don't mind putting in a penalty for this, though only if these users do it over and over, people can get finished off quite quickly in a match and we wouldn't want to punish for that.
Personally, I think players that don't perform well would be able to reach Gold with time, it's not exactly the hardest rank to reach.
Distribution mostly indicates that the rank average is between Gold and Plat, though that doesn't really indicate how great players will be.
Next to that, adding a punishment does not guarantee that players will be put in their proper rank, neither will you find better players due to said change.
My personal recommendation for you would be to group up into a premade, possibly by using an LFG system on the Apex discord, which doesn't take a lot of time.
Thanks for the tip. As a casual gamer I try to keep things easy and would prefer to have rhe game manage matchmaking more effectively but your point is valid. If you want to get to higher ranks you have to put in the work to find pre-made squads.
