The fact that ranked ends on zone 1 now and isn’t/doesn't feel as competitive as it used to be is a huge issue. Ranked needed a huge change and is supposed to feel competitive but taking one step forward and two steps back is such a slap in the face. REVERT THE CHAGES + TWEAK IT RIGHT!!!
Yeah, they’re just messing with us at this point. I suggest playing a different game for now cause there’s no way they’re gonna actually care until their player account goes down a bunch.

It might be worth considering why this happened, considering that most seasons have always seen jump-starts (dropships).
Maybe TTK? Maybe too much movement for many legends, which is getting faster and faster? Unfortunately, it is impossible to "extend" the game if we receive more and more movement from season to season.
It's worth looking back not so much at last season, but at all the changes after season 21.

I'm demoting Apex to my daughter's Nintendo Switch 2 until Ranked operates as a competitive BR. This game is more in-line with Super Mario at this point. SMH.
I played for several hours today. It's deflating, because now I'm back to not caring.
While I like playing competitive, I like not caring too (sometimes). The dropzone setup appealed to our better angels, the dropship setup promotes demon time. So lets drop hot, push fights, and hope for the best. Or let's drop cold, loot up, and find the last surviving sweats in the lobby who will find it "cute" that you're trying to play zone before they eliminate you. LOL.
Lastly, it's non-debatable that humanity should "always" appeal to our better angels to achieve "better results". It's the only way. Unless you're okay with toxic results due to our most cherished human privilege, free will.

The removal of dropship mechanics in the new ranked system has seriously damaged the pacing and integrity of competitive play. Ranked matches are ending in Round 1 with 10–12 squads eliminated within minutes. There’s no mid-game, no strategy development, no meaningful rotations — just chaotic early wipes.
Ranked is supposed to reward consistency, positioning, and decision-making not who survives a 60 second hot drop lottery. This change has made ranked feel rushed, shallow, and far less competitive. Please reconsider this direction because right now it’s hurting the quality of the game.

No. I think you have valid points about how movement meta and TTK has effected the game and so forth. For example, the horrible movement buff to Fuse. Earlier I watched a streamer abuse the movement mechanic for Fuse. Hopefully, this mechanic is removed or adjusted because currently Fuse can launch every 4s. WTHelly.
Although, this has nothing to do with POI drops. IMO.
I been playing Apex since Day 1, months before Ranked was introduced. I can't remember a time on King's Canyon where matches lasted that long. Everyone dropped Skull Town until changes were made. Ranked made the game better, but didn't resolve the issue with lobbies dying out too fast until the Random POI Draft was introduced. Facts.
