Season 4 Ranked Split is Awful

Beyond frustrated that the ranks were split after months of grinding, it is almost enraging having been a Diamond player that dropped down to Gold and now has to literally deal with Bronze 4 players - brand new players - WITH A MAP SWITCH. Random teams are unplayable for me right now.

King's Canyon is a dumpster fire of a map for serious gameplay. There are far too many corners and undersides I can hide in that practically make me invisible, and too many high-altitude areas in massively wide-open areas where I can just camp with a Charge Rifle, unchallenged. The map just sucks.

The loot situation is horrendous, and extremely unbalanced. The loot points are scattered ridiculously far apart from each other, be it bins or floor drops, and the loot that I do find is typically bottom tier trash like level 1 armor, miscellaneous ammo, heals and the like. However, after having looted for about 10 minutes in one game, having found nothing but a pistol and white armor, I went to the circular platform in the Thunderdome and found two level 4 items, a level 3 item, and at least two level 2 items. These were sitting within inches of each other. There is that, and then there is the IMC laboratory that always seems to have enough sniper rifles and side pieces to arm half the lobby. I am not sure if something was changed or if the RNG has just been steadily garbage, but every match has been me having about two items in my inventory 5-10 minutes in.

No, I am not just pissing on the game to vent my frustrations over a bad match. I had zero complaints when playing ranked on World's Edge, apart from randoms, which have nothing to do with the game itself obviously. World's Edge was a grand ranked map. There were no massive open spaces be helpless fodder for snipers. There weren't thousands of cracks and crevices to go incognito in, or under. The loot spots were compact, well-organized, and always had something for everybody. I couldn't get enough of World's Edge Diamond Tier rank pushing before today's reset. But now I am just not having fun. At all.

  • @SugaryJuice If you are in gold, you shouldn’t be playing with bronze players. There is some bug that shows your rank from before the split so it could be that they legitimately ranked up after the split?
Also, how consistent is it that you have bronze players in your lobby? I’d think that if it is somewhat consistent the game would be easier for you.
World’s Edge was a great map, but a ton of people wanted King’s Canyon back. It’s a shame, but Respawn had to do it.
Yeah, the loot has always been that bad. Although in your case the Thunderdome might’ve been the high-tier loot zone.
  • I was Gold 1 and constantly queued into Bronze players, many of which were tier 4. I'm Platinum 4 now and I'm still getting queued into Silver players. It wasn't even a case of chain-ranking from a Gold teammates. It was me as Platinum, another Platinum player, and then a Silver 2. From an intellectual standpoint, this game is just unplayable with randoms right now. Well, back to World of Warcraft.

  • You can’t team up with people more than one rank above or below you BUT respawn will put bronze in gold, silver in plat, and gold in diamond lobbies during match making. Makes 0 sense

Most annoying party for me, is that rank doesn't update until after your first ranked match.

So if your regular squad play their first match without you (causing them to derank for the season split), you can't play with them until you've solo queued yourself.

This bug has been present at the start of every new season; beggers belief why it's yet to be fixed.

I bet if I don't play any games after the split, I'll earn the 'finished diamond in both seasons" reward.

    Such a buggy game.

    @GucciiWallet

Playing solo is cancer unless you embrace the sickness =) Whenever I play solo casual, which I do quite often when I just wanna frag, I assume already in the legend selection that I

    1. will get matched with two lvl 40-50 premades with 0.5 K/D,
    2. who will leave as soon as one of them get knocked,
    3. who will move without pinging wherever they decide on their discord and then rage at me for not playing as a team,
    4. dont mark a landing spot if one of them are jump masters and maybe even decide to jump somewhere else without ping leaving me to die 1v3,
    5. dont respect my mark if Im the jump master and jump wherever they want
    6. rage at me and calling me noob even if I, after the match, have twice their damage dealt
    7.  that I in approximately 2 minutes after the match has started have to play solo since they both have left the game because of 2).

^ This is what mute is made for.

On the point of low K/D ratio, I have under .50 and do not care.  Because it's not necessarily important to winning.  I have characters with less than 100 kills and 4-9 wins for the season.  That's what the game is about.

Of course I don't mind, either if someone has a high K/D ratio either.  I mind though, if they think this is a dumb melee fest game and drop every time into the lab in King's Canyon.  If you're doing that, good luck, I'll take a top 5 playing solo or duo on a 3 person team any day over it.
