Packet loss is unrelated to the ping itself as far I'm aware.
Sure, the packets have a higher chance of being lost if they have to pass through a longer route, though typically not guaranteed.
You are using Ethernet, correct?
When using WiFi this would explain the exact problem, if you're using Ethernet, try contacting your ISP as this definitely has something to do with the route itself.
I find it doubtful that the servers themselves would be causing the packet loss, probably not impossible but it might be better to make sure it's not caused by something else.
