It's like how a drug addict's day to day life will be a grind so they can satisify their addiction and be temporarily happy. To be fair random, eomm, sbmm all would cause this psychological loop, it's just that EOMM allows the devs to manipulate when you get your high, and how frequently. If the matchmaking was random or even actually skillbased, the player could get their "hit" too frequently, be satisifed, and stop playing.
