Valorant is a great proof that 5v5 will not make things better - same trash happening there as well = people not teamworking or at best play with 2 other friends = 3 in total and totally ignore other 2 randoms, hacking, 50%+ ? of ranked community being Silver or below (basically Plat or even Gold at Apex standards), top level 99% cheating, exploiting up to tier2 level.
2v2? I guess Fortnite has it and it is still sort of relevant? Apex had is as pubs, not gonna lie teamwork wise it felt better than 3v3 situation yet given it was pubs and people did not treat it seriously hard to say but would be fun to try from "lack of teamwork" perspective yet it would for sure ruin the legend synergy, I assume most would run like recon / assault, skirmisher combo as with current state of the game and people preference I can't imagine that in Duos Support would remain relevant (maybe Loba because she is mobile, market, fun to play).
Going free-for-all = 1v1s 1vall ... that would just break Apex. Play a solo legend = same as now being left alone after teammates hotdrop on their own and instadie. Like Apex makes no sense in 1s.
Clearly over years! community has shown that they are dumb enough to teamwork and treat game as it imo suppose to be treated at least if we talk about ranked = competitive, play to win, methodical, boring at times and repetitive, communication is key etc.
So I only see further crack-down on this community as ONLY solution. First step was dropship change and imo it made ranked games better, forced players to stick closer if not together.
Next things that I see fit to further FORCE casual into ranked gameplay or out of it:
- make RP multiplier placement based AND fixed at the point when kill was done = you kill someone when 60 ppl alive you get 1 RP as it shows a) risk taking (unnecessary) b) enemies are weaker due to loot. You kill someone when 40 ppl are alive you get 5 RP, top 3 = you get 20 RP.
This way people would be inclined / motivated to fight later in game or take safe fights at first. Also eliminate your typical current situation of some **bleep** running into huge fight alone, gets lucky 1-2 kills, dies and then spams your chat with "you rats" etc. while you boost his RP by ratting / avoiding enemies, playing for placement AND at the end potentially even getting less RP - make entry fee higher or add some additional penalty for RP for first 5 squads to die, like to a point where it would demote people in like 5? games a tier lower if they keep running and gunning. Say 1 tier = 1000 RP, then 15th-20th place finish should give people like -100 or even -150 RP at any level!
Because honestly for me say in Silver or Gold (I am Diamond level player) making 300RP game is easy so even if I get unlucky / start of a season lobbies are full of Diamond/Master players demoted to Silver/Gold/Plat = I am ok with that. I would make up my ground eventually and casual -100 here and there would not be end of life for me.
Possibly with this enable demotion protection or increase number of games from 3 to like 5 or more. - Apply temp bans for sabotage. Implement a rule that checks reports for sabotage = then checks average distance from teammates in a given game, if that distance is above say 500m = indicating that teamwork was not done = report approved = auto temp ban for even say 10-15 min. Sure many will spam this and this is not ideal but it for sure will work for ppl who just take off and run to other side of the map. Only thing to figure out are duo-stacks that usually break off the 3rd person and might report and ban person that actually wanted to teamwork.
- Potentially add some buffs to legends if whole squad is together to a similar level where controllers get extra 25 armor when in ring or speed boost if your Skirmisher is close by and you run towards him.
List might go on but this would be a start + of course fix matchmaking and hacking issue as at least for me no matter what Respawn does with Apex if these two things are not fixed I am not coming back to grind this game as even with 3stack you have 0 chances against hackers.
