Sort out matchmaking

I'm always curious in cases like this to know things like your k/d, your highest ever rank achieved, your win rate. You certainly don't have to volunteer any of that information. I guess I'm throwing it out there as something for you to think about because when the matchmaker pits you against masters and predators then there's usually a reason for it. It isn't always a very satisfying reason, but a reason nonetheless.

I dont mind its literally nothing special my k/d is 0.81 overall this season is like a 0.68 highest ive ever reached in ranked is gold 1 i think I dont know how to look at my win rate 😅 I'm just confused cause I dont play with anyone either im solo just tryna get better slowly I have played for a long time though almost 400 on the level thing, its just strange to me that I get paired pretty consistently with people that just beam the whole squad instantly takes the fun outta the game :/

Unfortunately I can't share links but there are e.g. hiswattson video where he explains (read: cries) about how hard for him (being Pred level ex-pro competitive player) is to enjoy the game where he has to sweat (try his best) every game over and over again, because game pairs him up vs similarly skilled players. Basically ex-pro player demands easier lobbies to run and gun and enjoy having games like most of his content = crazy 20+ kills games, 8k damage per game and what not.

Some time ago - season ~10 - you could see that matchmaking was more balanced via Preds going against much more Pred squads. But that lead to very sweaty, low KP games + very long queue times = 10+ min because most Preds were not playing the same region, times etc. leading to situation where only <100 were online at the time which in turn means that if you get 20th place you have to wait for the current game you just "lost" to end or significantly progress for people to return to lobby and re-queue.

At what point Respawn made adjustment "faster queue time for all" leading to current craziness where current split Preds aka top750 players in the world are facing casuals as low as Platinum rank and there is still hug wall skill gap wise and more so game experience wise as soon as you now reach D3/D2 level and start regularly facing hackers, 3stacks of current Masters/Preds where your win percentage and in many cases even TOP5 percentage goes basically to 0%. E.g. me as D4+ solid player who grind ranked a lot having 4+% in some cases 5%+ win rate in reality consists of ~10% win rate in lobbies below D4 and 0% win rate in lobbies above D3.

That is complete bs.

Last split I posted under different thread about matchmaking a concrete screenshot of a game where I got paired with top 20 current Pred 3stack after having 3 game major losing streak (doing basically nothing, losing ~200 RP).

There is no stat in the world that would match between me and Top 20 Pred at that moment in time, it was pure EBMM case or "we just randomly populate server ASAP with whomever is available within 1,5-2 tier difference).

p.s. if not mistaken that game ended by top 20 Pred team (who was also bluntly hacking) dominating lobby having typical 20+ team KP game and me being one of those 20 KP with 0 chance of winning the game.

running at 0.79 kd so how the hell i all ways in top 30 % of game bad for me and the people in the team  7 games in row no kill but still dont  drop down and odd time i dropped down to half way one game and then back into top 30 %

Obviously I won't disagree with you about the terrible state of the matchmaker. This season's matchmaking update seems only to have affected the left side of the skill distribution curve. I assume that was tightened up in order to make it even marginally possible for a new player to enter the game without experiencing the crushing matches that you're getting.

So your k/d, kills per match, win rate, are probably not what's driving you into those lobbies. But the matchmaker can't find enough diamond/masters to fill their own lobbies so it's going after the likes of you to pad those matches. There are other stats I believe are at play, though I have no way of knowing with any certainty. It only seems to be one explanation that fits the facts, and it principally involves "willingness to re-queue after loss," but also "amount of time that passes between a log off and the next log on." These are the data that tell them whether or not their matchmaking antics are actively pushing you away from the game. If you typically queue up for 10 or 20 matches in a session, and your sessions are never more than a day or two apart, then the message you're sending to the matchmaker is, "Keep it up. Whatever you're doing is working."

The best advice I can give, by way of putting some of this to the test, is to play pubs-only for a while and very carefully scrutinize the skill distribution curve at the beginning of each match. If your red line is far to the left of the grey bar then you need to actively, aggressively, quit out of those games. Quit out right there on the spot, or quit out after legend selection. Either way you're sending a very clear message to the matchmaker that you won't tolerate just anything. The matchmaker has a job to do and if it isn't doing it right then pubs is the place where you can force its hand. Of course, pubs is still filled with smurfs who range the left side of the curve looking for easy matches, so there's no perfect way to get away from the players you shouldn't be matched against. But this is still a start.

Ranked, on the other hand, works completely differently. The quit penalty means you have no recourse against bad matchmaking, and the very nature of ranked means that the rank distribution they show you at the beginning of the match has absolutely zero bearing on the actual skills of the opponents you will face. I've been in bronze lobbies where people played like streamers because it was early-season and they just hadn't ranked up yet. Stay away from ranked.

And a last note: The longer you've played the game, the more certain the matchmaker is about where it can get away with using you, and the less likely or quickly it will respond to manipulation on your part. I hate to be the guy who actively encourages people to use secondaries because I despise them and the people who routinely use them for no other reason than to cheat the matchmaker. But I don't think that's really the case here. You just need a hard reset and a new account is a good way to get it. Obviously it means leaving behind progress and probably kit, but honestly I'd take a little decent gameplay over any of those things any day.

Well I can gladly say that I have not touched Apex for ~week now. Matchamking and hacking situation just returned me to the state I was in January 2025 = quit this game besides some random appearances in pubs to complete battle pass given I purchases it (in game currency = 0 real money invested) with idea that I will play / grind ranked.

Will see how it goes, but now back in great realm of single player games :)

I agree so tired of getting murdered by some one who has  more kills on one person in one season than i do over all season combine for all players  need to fix the matchmaking or only let preds play ranked.  If thats the only way they can get their 20 bombs then they are not as good as they think they are..    cant compete with other preds they have to bully regular players .,    just my rant for the day

Me and nitehawk1971 play together a lot. Neither of us play ranked, I don't because I'm not that good and Nite doesn't have the time.
We played duos last night, rarely got a single kill between the 2 of us and only lasted about 10 minutes in a game. 
 I'm the higher level between us and when I play with pubs I'm usually matched with newcomers or very low level players and we usually graph at the far left of the levels. My team ends up fighting against much higher ranked players that show up well past the curve on the graph and it's usually a massacre of my team. The system isn't balancing player skill any more, to me it looks like we end up as "fillers" for the matches and skill be damned. 
For us casual players the game has become unwinnable because we don't stand a chance against Master and Pred level players who just want to farm kills. And the smurf accounts are unreal right now. Get in a game and the champion is a level 1-5 who ends up wiping half the lobby and the higher level ranked players take out the other half.

TxApostle​ I would agree to the overall point that matchmaking is total random + feeding higher ranked players free kills kinda combination messed up by hackers and smurfs.

On the other hand I can assure you that pubs for casuals at least in my experience always has been and potentially should be "you will probably never going to win" experience.
I personally as competitive minded person even on my worst days have not been below 50% of pub players performance wise. When I am on point I am for sure closer to top just because:
a) I have better skill
b) I play pubs the same way I play ranked / in other games I might force myself to get into "get as many kills as possible" but not for 20 bomb or other rewards but just because I want to train intensive focusing / fighting skills at the time
At the same time I switched to Valorant, I am silver/gold level player there -> go to pubs -> face Ascendants and Radiants who kill me in a way where 9 out of 10 times I could not even understand wtf just happened.

Ideal matchmaking for sure would match equal players game after game and adjust instantly, but that is not possible in real life for one fact alone that people especially in pubs will intentionally drop games to get to lower level lobbies for nitehawk1971​ mentioned 20 bomb or high kill game. Just because people "like to get kills" and play the game to get that 1 cool game per day vs actually playing the game for the win, improving skill, strategy etc.
In addition to that in 3 player team games as Apex or even 5 player as Valorant ideal matchmaking should also look for identical players instead of looking towards identical overall team level which makes calculations even more impossible as e.g. in Apex you can play Fuse or Vantage and farm damage from far one game, next game switch to Wattson and just support your team / camp in zone = game has no objective parameters to determine what type of level are you.

So in Apex in pubs I would say people like you have to swallow the bitter pill and accept the fact that until above mentioned race for kills, 20 bombs and other non-sense will be present + hacking/smurfing not solved -> for you pubs will always be the battle for <5 KP and probably more often than not 10th to at best 5th place.
Adding to that even at pro level or high ranked level if you look at stats via tracker or other means you will see that from 20 teams more often than not 10-15 will get 0!!!!! KP game after game -> 3-8 teams will get between 1 and like 7 KP -> top 2-3 teams will have majority of the KP AND place TOP 1 2 3. That's just how Apex works because of rotations, 3rd party advantages (if equally skilled you just can't survive 3rd party = you get 3 KP at best and X placement, team that 3rds you get up to 3 KP and automatically at least X+1 placement).
