Suggestions for improving the Champion Ladder system

Hello all,

As a longtime Apex Legends player, I would like to provide constructive feedback on the current Champion Ladder reward system.

Current issues:

1. frustrating reward system:
The current system requires players to complete the Champion Challenge (3x Champion Rank) again each split to keep the Dive Trail. This leads to:

Burnout for dedicated players
Demotivation after reaching it once
Feeling that achievements are not valued

2. undesirable gaming behavior:
The system unintentionally encourages problematic behavior:

AFK-walking to lose RP


Suggested solutions:

Permanent rewards for repeated performance:

After reaching champion rank 2 times, the Dive Trail becomes permanent
Introduction of a "Legacy Champion" status with permanent rewards

Tiered progression:

Champion achievement: Trail for one split

Champion achievement: Trail for two splits

Champion achievement: Trail becomes permanent

Alternative motivation systems:

Multiple different champion trails that rotate
Additional permanent rewards (badges, banners, etc.)
"Hall of Fame" system for multiple champions

These changes would make the system fairer and reduce toxic behavior while maintaining motivation for competitive play.

    Not bad ideas. Thanks for the feedback. Nice to see players trying to be constructive instead of destructive.

  • First ranked ladder and also this one = hacker feast party.

    Facts:
    - there were many videos from TTVs / content creators (example gamingmerchant) who clearly posted what I felt myself = first ladder people above top 11% in Diamond and even more so in Masters were 90%+ exploiting or hacking. E.g. in my ladder top 1 dude did 33 kills per game ON AVERAGE! and that was in a scenario where Diamonds would fight Diamonds not like this ladder.
    - my current ladder Tier 1 players 1/2 were low level profiles = smurfs/hackers
    - it makes no sense that me as D2 has to compete in the same ladder with GOLD! players
    - not sure if there was ladder distribution between 3stacks and soloqing players, quite sure there was not

    Addressing your statements:

    Burnout for dedicated players - what the hell is this? You should play the game as much as you do, get your results and enjoy rewards. If you decide that your life's goal at the time is to get dive trail...well same as ranked ladder this will be 50% your skill challenge / 50% your time devoted to grinding challenge. Not sure what are you talking about here :) If you worried about burnout -> format probably should be first 10 matches and ladder over :)
    Demotivation after reaching it once - you say this and then talk about permanent bonuses...how is that latter one not demotivating? :D
    Feeling that achievements are not valued - noone cares and ever will care about your achievements. All of those and cosmetics are for your own ego. The rest don't care at all or maybe for a second.

    Finally the point of permanent bonuses - again some ~10 seasons back Respawn clearly made the right change of removing them because otherwise people would boost / hack / in few cases grind till D4 or 16k Masters and stop playing. Which create basically unplayable first and last 1-2 weeks of a split where usually these fast gainers would be crazy active.
    Also from business model perspective Respawn cares about active player base = grind should go on. Vs people getting something for free or via short period of grinding and then just leave.

    p.s. tbh I don't care about any topic besides addressing hackers and matchmaking that will kill this game, at this point any other discussion is just pointless.
