if u like droping hard u can do this even with the new mode. There was some squads they droped near me, u get a big red notice ingame.
But for me and many others, this was one of the best changes ever in Apex. Hard drop is such a bs, didnt like it in the normal mode...
20 ppl landing at 1 place with 3 weapons and the one with the smallest lag get the weapon and the rest is running and jumping around like chickens, so for me this is pointless.
Droping alone, take 5 minutes and stack up weapons, nades a bag and than play the game is way more fun, otherwise Cod is an option for ppl who want a massacre ? ;)
The difference between the old system and the new goes far beyond "used to be able to drop hard" and "now I have to work hard to get to even one squad on drop." In the old system you only dropped hot if you CHOSE to drop hot. The jump master had complete control over whether you would drop in a firestorm, with one other squad, or completely alone at the edge of the map. In the new system all these things are decided for you because the game knows better than you do. And in the new system your outcome is dramatically affected by whether you get an edge drop or a center-of-map drop. How is it competitive to have major factors of the match decided by a machine before you've ever left the drop ship?

I could not agree more. And there was absolutely NOTHING stopping you from doing that in the old system except a bad jump master. And the only thing you have to do if you get a bad jump master is jump solo. You don't have to enable bad behavior by going along with it just because "jump master."
"Oh, but it's RANKED. I HAVE to do whatever the jump master wants or we all die early and lose RP." So the ***k what? Grow a spine and do the RIGHT thing even if you know it will end poorly. Because you already know a hot drop will end poorly. So what have you got to lose that you haven't already lost? Not to mention the fact that dropping separately is not a guarantee of early death and loss. It virtually guarantees that the hot dropper will die early, which is what SHOULD happen. The rest of you... your outcome depends on you and how you choose to handle a match where you're short-handed. You can still place. You could even still win, though your odds are lower. But the best part of all is that your hot dropper will have to spend the entire match doing nothing except watching you recover from his stupidity. Or he can quit and take the penalty. It's karma either way. And that's a kind of a win in and of itself.
