Yes I believe they will. Sometimes they just need to accept the fact they need to make changes and people will be unhappy, this strafing is blatant cheating.
First of all, this game isn't for people like us, it's for streamers and pro players, and they dictate the terms. Funny, but true. They're the ones who largely ruined Apex by demanding so many stupid changes.
I keep reading threads like, "My legend is weak, give it a buff." Then Respawn buffs a legend for the 10th time, and it's too broken.
Likewise, these "big" streamers dictate who should never return to the meta, like Caustic or Seer.
I'm generally lost as to why Respawn buffs or nerfs a given legend. For example, Wattson – she already got a buff once and became really strong. Now she's gotten another buff and is incredibly obnoxious. Why did she get it? Nobody knows and we probably won't find out.
Nothing here makes sense to me anymore. It's all just a setup for certain people.
Secondly, they already removed tap strafing once or nerfed it significantly (I don't remember). It's probably not even a day since all the streamers started crying and Respawn reversed the change.
That's why I don't believe they'll ever do anything about it. This game will largely remain a game for cheaters, and I guess we'll just have to accept that.
There are always a lot of players in my lobby with CFG file editing, and it shows. Mostly, as you mentioned, Octane and Horizon, but it happens with other legends too.
Boosting movement to the extent it is now and not doing anything about tap strafing is simply ridiculous. But I don't care anymore about dying to Octane, who not only has incredible speed but also tap strafing left and right like a monkey. I just try to avoid thinking I'm playing "Octane Legends" instead of "Apex Legends." Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn't work out.
BTW. I know Ash will get a mythic skin next season, and I know she'll be buffed again. This game will be hilarious when everyone is jumping, flying, and tapping and strafing left and right. I can't wait to see it and crack open some popcorn.
